A 2009 Year in Review... and a Peek at 2010
It's the time of year for holiday notes, so all of us at OKA wanted to send you our thanks and best wishes. 2009 was a year of both change and growth for us, and we are grateful for the support and enthusiasm of the people who have connected with us both in person and online. The end of a year brings both reflection and anticipation, so we wanted to share with you the 2009 happenings that we are most proud of, and the activities we look forward to in 2010.
Generations. This year saw the successful launch of our new Generations: Bridging the Gap with Type training program. A collaboration between Performance Consulting and OKA, the program includes three integrated elements that can be used together or separately: a workbook that can be used as a stand-alone guide or as a workshop support tool; presentation slides; and a two-day train-the-trainer workshop. Look for quarterly offerings of the workshop in 2010, or buy a sample workbook at 50% off!

Emotional Intelligence. We also launched a three day Emotional Intelligence Certification Workshop in 2009. Built around the popular BarOn EQ-iŪ suite of tools, this workshop is a powerful introduction to an approach to emotional intelligence that lays out fifteen different elements of emotional well-being in your life. We were pleased to host a full house in our most recent class - it's great to be seeing so many trainers and consultants adding this powerful tool to their repertoire. Look for quarterly offerings of the workshop in 2010.
Psychological Type. We also continue to expand our support resources for those using psychological type and the Myers-Briggs Type IndicatorŪ (MBTIŪ) assessment in their work. In 2009, we launched our Web-Based Type Trainers Skillshop, to provide an alternative option for folks unable to travel to the classroom-based version of the Skillshop class.
Jung Type Behavior. In collaboration with Personal Strengths Publishing, we also launched a new self-assessment tool called the Portraits of Jung Type Behavior, that focuses on the behavioral dimensions of type. This tool has proven to be an invaluable addition to our type-based work with client groups, and we look forward to sharing more examples of its use in 2010. Reversal Theory. Our work with Reversal Theory - a powerful model about motivation, emotion, and change - also continued in 2009. We launched a free Motivation in Action training website designed to provide an overview of the theory with a You-Tube touch; we launched an advanced web-based Reversal Theory training program for those wanting to use the tool with clients; and we continue to carry our popular and practical Reversing Forward Fieldbook. Our consulting director spoke at the 2009 International Reversal Theory Conference, and is already starting planning activities to host the 2011 conference.
Our consulting practice continues to grow, leading to interesting work with terrific client groups. More and more clients are seeking us out for workgroup facilitation services and strategic planning - and we continue to provide customized teambuilding and inter-personal skills development workshops for a wide range of organizations. A large area of growth area has been in our project management training and mentoring services - our focus on practical and personality-based approaches to project management resonates with people, and we look forward to expanding this work in 2010.
These are just quick snapshots of an OKA year filled with learning and collaboration. We also enjoyed an active presence at the APTi Conference in Dallas this summer; collaborated with CAPT to deliver MBTI-certification workshops at our Training Center in Fairfax, VA; and partnered with other organizations to deliver online type-related sessions. We look forward to these continued collaborations and connections in the future, and hope to see you in 2010!
