A New Update from OKA!  

It's not been that long since OKA's last update, but we have not only a new product, but a new kind of support tool, and I wanted to tell you about it. For years, we have been reaching clients with our MBTI/Type Trainer's Skillshop: a great three-day workshop on designing and delivering high-end experiential type training.  OKA's latest offering of this course is coming up on March 16-18, but in addition, we have just completed a self-guided version of this course to offer clients a different way to access this information. Incorporating audio, video clips, downloadable documents and write-ups, and a compelling set of PowerPoint slides, this Self-Guided MBTI/Type Trainer's Skillshop is designed to help you sharpen your training and consulting game - but to do so on your own time. 
 
This Self-Guided MBTI/Type Trainer's Skillshop is not designed as a replacement to the excellent in-person MBTI/Type Trainer's Skillshop, and in fact, we are giving from this point forward any participant of this traditional OKA course access to the self-guided version at no additional cost. I hope you like the new support tool, as we continue working to make our products and tools available in a variety of formats. 

 
New!Self-Guided MBTI/Type Trainer's Skillshop
 
For years, OKA has been helping train trainers on the delivery of high-impact, experiential MBTI workshops. Now we offer this course in a self-directed format, available online using any web browser. Drawing from OKA's longstanding three-day MBTI/Type Trainer's Skillshop, and built around OKA's MBTI Workshop Slides, this self-guided presentation is a detailed audio presentation overlaid on a detailed PowerPoint slide show. Together, they support both type theory content and "behind the curtain" insights on the structure and logistics of an experiential type training. Through this training, you will be able to:
  • Identify the ten training micro-components that make you effective with any group
  • Learn a variety of type exercises-how to set them up and process the exercise output
  • View a number of video clips, illustrating the delivery of key workshop components
  • Review a host of frequently asked questions and appropriate responses.
  • Utilize a variety of handouts and design variations based on different group sizes and composition
This online training includes over two hours of audio content, recorded over 89 slides. We have also included the following attachments, easily downloadable through the training: OKA's downloadable bundle of MBTI Designs, OKA's MBTI Workshop Slides, and a focused assortment of Intro-workshop specific handouts.

MBTI Skillshop
This is an online flash-based training program that can be accessed through any standard browser using a website address, login and password that we provide to you in a downloadable PDF information sheet when you buy the product. Once you have these instructions, you can visit the training as often as you want, from any computer that has Internet access.

There is a big difference between having personal knowledge of the MBTI assessment and having the skill and confidence needed to bring this information to life in a training session. In 1997, OKA designed and first offered the Type Trainer's Skillshop to address this gap by training trainers who want to develop their skill in delivering high-impact workshops that make type concepts accepted, understood, and used by any group.

This popular three-day design, capped at 12 participants, models and then deconstructs an effective introductory workshop, breaks the training into components and gives each participant focused time to prepare, deliver and get detailed feedback on a presentation. Time is given to theory review, new exercises and training techniques, contracting issues and type table analysis. All participants of this course get in addition, the new Self-Guided MBTI/Type Trainer's Skillshop as an additional support tool and resource at no additional cost.

Emotional Intelligence Training: EQ-i & EQ360
 
EQ, or emotional quotient, is a general term that relates to a person's level of emotional intelligence. For years, the most popular tool in the field of personal and organization development to access and measure EQ is the EQ-i (which comes in both self-report and 360 feedback versions).  OKA is now a certification level trainer for this exciting suite of tools, and while the popularity and power of the tools speak for themselves, what I am most excited about is bringing OKA's training approach to this new area. 

The EQ-i tools are a compelling way to establish that you may want to develop more Empathy or Assertiveness and not to overdo a drive for Independence.  What I look forward to focusing on with experiential training designs and support materials is how you change these behaviors-yours and your clients'. I will continue to share insights with you as this new approach to emotional intelligence and the EQ-i continues to develop.
