WCA/DC's NETWORKING DAY on May 30th at the state of the art Cafritz Foundation Arts Center promises to be a great hit!

With the theme is "STEPPING INTO TECHNOLOGY" we are going to have great topics such as global technology projects, "to blog or not to blog," "what about Facebook?", and facts about web sites; plus the keynote speaker Susan Fisher-Sterling,Director of the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

In addition to WCA/DC members, guests, spouses and significant others are invited to attend. Reserve the day!

(Registration form will be available in a few weeks - stay tuned!)

At last, spring is here, and WCA/DC activities are flourishing! Mark your calendars for Networking Day 2009, on May 30th at the Cafritz Center at Montgomery College. Join WCA/DC members and friends for tours of the  Hirshorn Museum and the Corcoran Gallery of Art, submit your art for the WCA/DC Southeast regional show at PEPCO's Edison place gallery, and join the new facebook group (it's free!). There is something for everyone, hope you will join us.

WCA/DC is now on Facebook! For those of you who are on Facebook, please search under the full name "Women's Caucus for Art of Greater Washington, DC" to join the group. (A few of your have found us already!)
 
If you are not on Facebook you can join for free at www.facebook.com. After you sign up, look for the button with the two heads at the bottom (this takes you to the groups section rather than individuals, and you can search from there.) It's great for networking and sharing information about events. This is an open group, so friends and family can join, too. Special thanks to member Pat Ortman for setting this up for our chapter.

CALL FOR ARTISTS:  "From a Woman's Perspective"
 
"The Women's Caucus for Art of Greater Washington, DC invites all WCA artists in good standing in the Southeast Region (DC, MD, VA, LA, GA, FL, NC, SC, and SE regional members at large) to enter its September 2009 juried show "From a Woman's Perspective" at the Edison Place Gallery, a 4,100-square-foot gallery located on the ground floor of Pepco's headquarters building (701 Ninth Street, N.W.) in Washington, D.C. 

Any two or three-dimensional work following exhibition guidelines will be considered by the juror.  The works selected will be exhibited at the Edison Place Gallery from September 8. 2009 through October 2, 2009.  An exhibition catalogue will be available for sale at this time.

Submissions must be received by April 15, 2009

Tour of Maya Lin Exhibition "Systematic Landscapes"

This spring, the Corcoran Gallery of Art will present Maya Lin: Systematic Landscapes-a dramatic installation of major new works by this renowned contemporary artist and architect.   On view from March 14 through July 12, the exhibition addresses contemporary ideas about landscape and geologic phenomena.  Lin's second nationally-traveling exhibition in 10 years, Systematic Landscapes explores how people perceive and experience the landscape in a time of heightened technological influence and environmental awareness.
