Valley Sculpture Artists Sculpture Show
|

Does art have to match the couch? Come and see my "Journey Tableau" tile and recycled steel indoor-outdoor coffee table at the Valley Sculpture Artists' Sculpture Show at the 2110 Gallery in September (2110 K Street, Sacramento, CA). You will be amazed at the variety of art materials and subjects of talented VSA artists at this exciting sculpture show!
To avoid the crowds, consider checking out the show on Art Preview Night, Thursday night 6-8 PM, September 8, 2011.
Or come out during the Second Saturday Art Walk, September 10, 2011, 6-9 PM.

Mud Cloth Madness Show Ends with Sep 4th Party
| The longest-running art show at the Kuumba Collective Art Gallery will be ending with a big party on Sunday, September 4th, 2-6 PM. Come and see the amazing artworks, textiles, and jewelry made from African mud cloth.
You can also see the show on First Saturday Art Walk, on September 3rd, 12-9 PM.
Here's a TV video made for Kuumba's Mud Cloth show that ran for five months at the Crocker Art Museum.
Many more mud cloth creations have been added in the last month, so stop by and pick one up for your own art collection before it's gone ...

How Does Your Garden Grow?
| Last month, a few of my remaining metal flowers were taken to the Blue Moon Gallery's "garden", next to Chris Taylor's ceramic-filled cottage, and my taller, kinetic and lighted clay'n steel pieces. They look so pretty, kissed by the sunlight. My favorite time to visit the Blue Moon Gallery is the early afternoon when it's quiet and sunny. Then you can really concentrate on the art inside and outside.

Check out the art and live music and eatables on Second Saturday, September 10th, 6-9 PM. 2353 Albatross, Sac, 95815.

Recent Installations
| July was a busy art month which saw three special Kanika art pieces being installed into new homes, in addition to a garden art show at the studio.
One outdoor solar lighted commission piece was described in last month's newsletter.
One of my newest metal flowers, at right now graces long-time collector friend Camil's lovely home, greeting her visitors near the front door.
The kinetic, recycled metal and clay piece at left, called "Lady C", was installed in Catherine's amazing sculpture garden. Catherine is able to easily turn Lady C around and around to see all aspects of the Goddess from any vantage point in the yard and inside the house. She looks quite sassy, I think! (Lady C? Catherine? smile)
If you would like your Kanika art piece to be featured in my newsletter, please e-mail me a picture. Even if you do not want them published, I would love to see how my art fits into your space. It's like a mom raising her babies, then sending her grown children off into the world to make their way.

Inspired by Nature ... Again
| We just came back from our annual 9-day vacation in Mendocino, CA, along the Pacific Ocean, among the coastal redwoods. This is my favorite milieu. I am a redwood girl who loves the lush greenery of ferns and redwoods, the majesty, the aroma, the atmosphere, the energy, the Spirit of the Earth Mother. One whole wall of my bedroom is covered floor-to-ceiling with pictures of redwood forests. Needless to say, I was in NIRVANA during the first week of August!
My Spirituality and Art Blog has the rest of the article and some fabulous pictures of why Mendocino brings out the artist in me. What brings out the creative force in you?
