Greetings!
I am so excited! My birthday is in May and this is a long-awaited one that gets me all the closer to retirement from the 8-to-5. So I want to celebrate with you. I hope you enjoy all of the events in Magical May! And remember: Mother's Day in May 8th this year.
Oh, and for you DIY (do it yourself) folks, feel free to look at my latest caper: Our Shower Remodel. What do you think should be the next DIY project?

20-20 Show at the Kennedy Gallery on May 14th
|
It was with a heavy heart that artists and art patrons learned that the beloved 20th Street Gallery was going to close late last year in Sacramento, CA. One of the many special art shows that the 20th Street Gallery was known for was their 20-20 show where 20 8"x8" pieces of art were created within 20 days. Co-owner, Joanie Ferry, kindly offered to let the Kennedy Gallery, located down the street, take over the highly popular 20-20 show this year. I found out last month that my submission, "Six Degrees of Separation," was juried into the show which will run in May 2011! Read more here . . .

Art Show on Laguna Lake, May 21-22
|

It's my birthday on May 22nd and what better way to celebrate it than at the side of a beautiful lake in Elk Grove, the sun sparkling on metal, clay and glass sculptures?
My friend, Pat Deese, has invited a few of her artist friends to participate in an Open Studio show in her lakeside garden on May 21-22, 10 to 5 PM, 9442 Laguna Lake, Elk Grove, CA, 95758.
As a birthday thank you, I will pay the tax on all of your purchases of my work.

Totems and Plates at Blue Line Gallery
| |

How fun is this? One of my all-time favorite ceramic artists, Tony Natsoulas, was the judge for a show about ceramic plates and clay-based totem poles.
The inventiveness of the Plates and Totems submissions is not to be believed!
The show is from April 7th to May 30th.
Location: Blue Line Gallery, 405 Vernon Street #100, Roseville, CA 95678, CA 95678, (916) 783-4117.

Art that Warms the Heart - Libby Harmor |
I had a special studio show on April 1st. My dear friend, Libby Harmor, stopped by and ended up choosing this colorful piece, Tattooed Ladies, for her newly-remodeled bathroom. I have known Libby for years, as she has facilitated weekly clay workshops for the Sacramento Parks and Recreation Department for well over a decade. I have met so many of my clay friends at the workshops and learned so many clay techniques there over the years. She has always been one of my biggest supporters and I one of hers.
Libby is primarily a textile artist, a theatrical costumer, and extraordinary paper maker. "Auntie Libby" also does arts and crafts classes for children.
Libby has her clay masks and bowls in the Lincoln Arts Gallery, 580 6th Street, Lincoln, CA. She and many other clay, glass and metal artists will be selling their original clay art at the Clay Fest on May 14th, 10-4 PM, along Sixth and F Streets, Lincoln, CA.
