Teeming with Life Tile Sculpture
Celebrating Fem Art in March
Greetings!

Fem, female, feminine.  March has been designated as Women's History Month.  I was delighted when Marshall Bailey, co-owner of the Kuumba Collective Art Gallery, asked my permission to honor my mother as the Featured Artist in March. How wonderful is that?  I would love to personally show you mom's work on March 5th and 12th, as detailed below.

We will have about one dozen of mom's best pieces at the gallery during March.  I invite you to stop by on March 5th, 5-6 PM, when I will be giving a talk about mom's life as a professional artist after her career as an educator. Or stop by during the Second Saturday Art Walk, March 12th, from 6-9 PM, to see about adding some of her fabulous art to your collection.  If you cannot come either of those nights, the gallery is open every Thursday, Friday or Saturday from noon to 6 PM for your shopping pleasure.

First Saturday Art Tour on March 5th

Every First Saturday, the Sacramento African-American Art Collective (SAAAC) hosts a self-guided art tour exhibiting the works of established and emerging African-American artists. In addition, a wealth of talent by poets, musicians and other artists in various disciplines will be showcased. Participating artists are predominately from the Greater Sacramento region and surrounding communities.

Art lovers will be able to view creative works in all media at over 10 venues through the city. People of all ages are encouraged to come out and enjoy this family-friendly event. The First Saturday Art Tour is free and open to the public from 12 Noon-6pm.

Art patrons may choose to go to some or all of the venues. The self-guided tour guides viewers from location to location ending at the Point of Destination closing reception. The Point of Destination spotlights and is hosted by a venue included in the tour. Artists and business owners from all the venues will be present. For the month of March, Carol's Books (1913 Del Paso Blvd., Sacramento - tel: (916) 335-9094), is the Point of Destination. The Point of Destination closing reception begins at 9pm.

I will be giving a talk about my mother's watercolor artwork on Saturday, March 5th, from 5-6 PM, at the Kuumba Collective Art Gallery, 1001 Del Paso Blvd (near SR-160). But there are fabulous events going on all day, as follows:
