KANIKA MARSHALL Bringing Some Exotica to Your Life August 2009, Part 2 |

|
|
|
Greetings!
Come and celebrate public television with me and many of my artist friends at KVIE's Annual Art Auction on channel 6 TV, from August 28th through the 30th. Artists donate fabulous original fine art, on which the public may bid. All proceeds go towards keeping public television alive in the Sacramento area, so BID HIGH and BID OFTEN!
The kickoff to the celebration is the KVIE Preview Party on Monday, August 24th, from 5:30 to 8:00 PM, at KVIE in Sacramento. You'll get to see all of the art in person, which is always even more impressive than seeing it on tv or online, as well as be feted to marvelous food and wine.
To bid on my 48" x 13" tile artpiece, "Dancing in the Light," you'll want to tune in to KVIE channel 6 on August 29th between 4:30 and 5:30 PM. My good friend, Judith Monroe, will be the on-air talent doing a great job of selling my work to the highest bidder. Generally, bidding starts at about 30% of the normal retail value, so you have a chance of getting some really exceptional art for a good value. But if you really want the piece, you'll want to BIG HIGH and BID OFTEN. Please keep in mind that my piece may hang vertically or horizontally, and may be displayed outside in the garden. I use my special technique of layering different types of glazes to achieve an amazing depth of color and texture; fire the clay tiles in a kiln; break the pieces; then fit them together with other media like glass, stone, and metal. I hope you tune in and place a bid to help keep public TV on the air in Sacramento.
Enjoy Your Blessings . . .

Blue Moon Gallery Presents an All-Sculpture Show . . .
For the month of August, the Blue Moon Gallery, 2353 Albatross, Sac, CA, will celebrate several local sculptors from the Valley Sculpture Artists group, including Anne Bradley, Sue Anne Foster, Gary Foster, and many others.
For the first time I will be showing my brand new "You Light Up My Life 2" - the 7.5 foot LED sculpture that I wrote about in my 7/5/09 Art Blog. And, of course, there will also be a couple of water fountains and several of my metal outdoor sculptures, along with clay garden art by Chris Taylor, Chris Kubi and Vince Monrail.

The BRA SHOW - Fundraiser for the Women's Wisdom Project & Cancer Research
What's a BRA SHOW?The Women's Wisdom Project (WWP) and Albie Aware Breast Cancer Foundation are preparing to host their second ART BRA SHOW to bring awareness to the plight of breast cancer in Sacramento and its effects on all women. Artists have been invited to sculpt, paint, stitch and/or embellish a piece of artwork that uses the "bra" as a symbol. There will be a Preview Show featuring some of the donated artwork throughout August at University Art, 2601 J Street, Sacramento, CA. Come and see my "Puttin' on the Ritz" metal and clay wall sculpture and the other interesting bra art there in August and plan to buy some art to further these good LOCAL causes at an event scheduled in September.Read more about this on my Blog.

How to Make Your Dining Table Sing
As you've heard me say before, artistic inspiration comes from many different sources. After my vacation in Georgia and Ohio, my cousin's house inspired me to create a new line of exotic serving platters. Read about the process on my 7/26/09 blog and see nine platters on my website.
