KANIKA MARSHALL Bringing Some Exotica to Your Life August 2009 |
Greetings!
Here's a toast to an art-centered life. For those interested in purchasing art, these summer months are really turning out to be fruitful. As I told a reporter from the Elk Grove Citizen paper, some galleries and artists are offering discounted fine art work to collectors as another type of "Economic Stimulus Package." I give away a free sculpture every couple of months to people on my Facebook Fan Page and a little "thank you" to those who fill out my feedback survey. Other artists and galleries are also chipping in to help art lovers get the art they crave.
Enjoy Your Blessings . . .

Blue Moon Gallery Presents an All-Sculpture Show . . .
For the month of August, the Blue Moon Gallery, 2353 Albatross, Sac, CA, will celebrate several local sculptors, including Anne Bradley, Sue Anne, Gary Foster, and many others.
In addition to my "Pattern of Life" 6 foot clay tile woman (at right), for the first time I will be showing "You Light Up My Life 2" - the 7.5 foot LED sculpture that I wrote about in my 7/5/09 Art Blog. And, of course, there will also be a couple of water fountains and several of my metal outdoor sculptures, along with clay garden art by Chris Taylor, Chris Kubi and Vince Monrail.
Second Saturday is always a nice time to come for the art, live music, wine, and appetizers.

The BRA SHOW - Fundraiser for the Women's Wisdom Project & Cancer Research
What's a BRA SHOW?The Women's Wisdom Project (WWP) and Albie Aware Breast Cancer Foundation are preparing to host their second ART BRA SHOW to bring awareness to the plight of breast cancer in Sacramento and its effects on all women. Artists have been invited to sculpt, paint, stitch and/or embellish a piece of artwork that uses the "bra" as a symbol. There will be a Preview Show featuring some of the donated artwork throughout August at University Art, 2601 J Street, Sacramento, CA. Come and see my "Puttin' on the Ritz" metal and clay wall sculpture and the other interesting bra art there in August and plan to buy some art to further these good LOCAL causes at an event scheduled in September.Read more about this on my Blog.

How to Make Your Dining Table Sing
As you've heard me say before, artistic inspiration comes from many different sources. After my vacation in Georgia and Ohio, my cousin's house inspired me to create a new line of exotic serving platters. Read about the process and see more platters on my 7/26/09 blog. They will be on my website in a couple of weeks.
