Greetings!
There's Magic in May! The weather is beautiful. My garden plants are growing like crazy in the warm sun, with the tendrils of green beans reaching up the vertical pole supports and strawberries providing their sweet sustenance. I am enjoying working outside on my lanai, and relishing the sound of joyful birdsong, the smell of blooming honeysuckle and the energizing warm rays of sunshine.
The "magic" is in all of the above. Everyone wants to be outside, enjoying nature and being immersed in culture. My Kanika African Sculptures will be all over the Sacramento area during May: May 2nd at the Lincoln Clay Fest, May 9th at the Blue Moon Gallery (thru May 30th), all month at the 20th Street Gallery, and Side Show Studios From May 9 - 30. This means lots of potential opportunities for finding the perfect gift for Mother's Day!

The Clay Fest is Back on May 2nd!
I have done this fun family event almost every year since 1995. As part of the annual Gladding-McBean Clay Factory in Lincoln, CA, the Clay Fest celebrates art forged in fire. You will experience tall pipes of clay being carved by college students, potters and sculptors showing the amazing variety of artworks that can be thrown, hand-sculpted, or molded from a lump of clay. There will also be music, hands-on clay activities for children of all ages, and non-stop fun!
I will bring lots of brand new heart sculptures, goddesses, and other gifts all ready for Mother's Day. I also have some fantastic new tile landscape sculptures. My booth will be on the grassy area at Beerman's Plaza, around 5th and F Streets.

Give Your Heart to Mom on Mother's Day
What better way to show your love than with a beautiful hand-sculptured, hand-painted heart for any mother in your life (mother, sister, aunt, niece, friend, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, mother-in-law)?
If you cannot pick up a heart or two at the Clay Fest on May 2nd, you may purchase them from my website at Heart webpage and have them mailed to you, or directly to your mom, for only $5 more, wrapped in pretty tissue paper and ribbon in a sturdy mailing package.

50 Artworks in 50 Days???
The 50-50 show started on April 8th to great aplomb at the 20th Street Gallery (911 20th Street, Sacramento, CA). The show runs until May 30th, 2009. Can you imagine 3,600 pieces of art in one place?
THIS SHOW IS EXPLOSIVE!
Several of my "Voyeurs" tiles sold during the first week of the show, but there are still many left. If you would like to purchase any of the tiles from the show, but cannot visit the gallery, feel free to check out pictures of each one on my website. You may call the gallery at (916-930-0500), give them the number of the tile you want (as shown on the webpage). and purchase the perfect art piece for you. If desired, the gallery will ship the tile to you for a
small fee after the show. The gallery can also mat and frame the artwork for you.
