Greetings!

8' Outdoor Art SculptureDaylight savings time is back with it's lovely extra hour of daylight at night.  It was so pleasant to be able to prune my trees last night until 7 PM and my yard was so beautiful today!

It is almost spring and time for renewal and a burst of creativity.

"To Commission or Not to Commission?"
that is the question . . .

Chrysalis

I usually do not do commission artwork because sometimes it is difficult to ensure that the customer is satisfied.  This month's blog describes some of my experiences with commissions and poses the question: "To Commission or Not to Commission?"
I am interested in your views about whether you have had good or bad experiences with commission work?  Do you have any pearls of wisdom for making the experience a positive one for the artist and customer.

My most complicated and rewarding commission was a collaboration for the New Faze Development building at 1900 Del Paso Blvd. in Sacramento, CA.  I had the great opportunity to work with two stellar artists: Anne Bradley and Chris Kubi.
Facebook

I just created a page on Facebook and included lots of brand new "How to" videos on making various types of sculptures and several notes that you may find interesting.  Do take a look and feel free to join my Facebook page if you like.  Let me know what you like and what you would like to see there. I am brand new at this and am receptive to your ideas!

The HeaddressThe Elk Grove Artists group, of which I am a member, has an interesting Art-2-Hang program where several businesses showcase art from local artists.

During March and April, do stop by and see some of my new two-dimensional pieces while sipping a cup of coffee.

Name That Sculpture

Name That SculptureMost of the time, I let sculptures dictate to me how they should look.  When I see the finished product, it is often as big a surprise to me as it is to you.  Usually I can look at a sculpture and devine a title for it, but sometimes I have a mental block and ask for your help.  This is one of those times.

What would a good title be for this one?

Next month's edition will talk about the 50-50 show at 20th Street Gallery.
