Where has the summer gone?  It's already September and there are lots of exciting art-related activities to share.  Perhaps the most notable is the KVIE Auction at the end of the month, the Women Lawyers Art Fundraiser at the beginning of the month, the Kuumba Collection African American art show on Second Saturday, and showing my art at several businesses in Elk Grove.  All are shown in the Upcoming Events section of this newsletter.

So enjoy this edition of Kanika's Artscapes.  And keep those e-mails coming on ideas for future newsletters.
KVIE Art Auction Time

World BeautiesThis is my first year to participate as an artist in the KVIE Art Auction (usually I am one of the art buyers!).  You may bid on my "World Beauties" tile mosaic wall sculpture and possibly get it at a really great price! 

Tune into channel six TV at 4:30 PM on Saturday, September 27th.  More information on the bidding process may be found at the KVIE website.  The Preview party is on September 22nd if you want to glimpse all of the artworks for auction in advance.  "World Beauties" is made from several multi-colored goddesses in the center of the piece, rotating around the swirl symbol of everlasting life.

Panels above and below the goddesses are comprised of colorful patterns of tile pieces interestingly assembled.  It is a very positive piece that represents world harmony.

World Beauties detailThe sculpture is 52" tall and about 12" wide and can be hung horizontally or vertically.  The normal price is $600 but the bidding may start at $200! 

So register for the auction early and tune in at 4:30 on September 27th.  Remember the bidding only lasts about ten minutes so get your best bid in quickly.  If you win the sculpture, let me know and I'll be happy to send you a Certificate of Authenticity to affix to the back of the piece.
Successful Elk Grove Open Studio Tour

We had a fantastic time at the first Open Studio Tour on August 16th and 17th.  The Elk Grove Citizen paper did an amazing job of helping us advertise before and during the event.  I put lots of pictures and the newspaper articles on my Spirituality and Art Blog.
