Greetings!

Spring is here!  Colorful blossoms abound. The weather is gorgeous in the Sacramento, California, area.  People are enjoying the outdoors by biking, hiking, walking, running, gardening, picnicking, sunning, swimming, and maybe just relaxing in the backyard with a good book.  This edition of our newsletter will encourage you to get outside and maybe join a couple of outdoor art shows, remember dads on Father's Day, and learn about our latest art series.  So enjoy!  And please let us know if there are specific topics you would like us to cover next month.

Art Fiesta on June 7-8th

2008_6_Kanika at Art FiestaThe largest and most prestigious outdoor fine art show in the Sacramento area is the 50th Annual Art Fiesta at Town and Country Village (Fulton&Marconi), from 10 AM to 4 PM.  Nestled in this charming outdoor mall, over 150 fine artisans will show and sell their original artwork, including sculptures, paintings, wood work, glass art, photography, pottery, and other forms of artistic expression.

My booth will be at space #54 on the back side of the Trader Joe's complex (across from the Chocolate Shoppe).  I will be unveiling my newest California Gold landscape series, new goddess wall art and tile mosaics, tile trivets, pottery, jewelry, and other original artwork.

The Elk Grove Artists organization is presenting their 7th Annual Fine Arts Show and Sale on June 14, 2008, from 10 AM to 4 PM, at the newly renovated outdoor shopping center called "The Village at Elk Grove," 9669 East Stockton Blvd., one block south of Elk Grove Blvd.

There will be original paintings, sculpture, jewelry, woodwork, photography, and other fine arts, in addition to a raffle of artwork, face painting, tile mural painting, and magician acts. Net proceeds benefit the Elk Grove Artists' Youth Art Scholarship Program.  Come and ENJOY a wonderful day with the Elk Grove Artists!

Don't Forget Father's Day on June 15th

My father just turned 77 years old last month and I am lucky to still have him in my life.  June 15th is his day when my sister, brother and I will thank him for the good things he has brought to us.

And I just found out that my eldest son, Isaac, now serving in the Marines, will be a father for the first time!

Let me help you choose the perfect gift for dad on his very special day!  Maybe a collectible mask, pendant, landscape wall sculpture,  or sculpture I created on scene in Mendocino County.  I will have samples of each type of gift at the Art Fiesta and Elk Grove Artists shows so stop by and see how I can help you commemorate dad.  You can also look at our website to see if anything else strikes your fancy.

New "California Gold" Landscape Series

LANDSCAPES! Luscious hills and valleys, amazing skies, veins of gold coursing through the foothills, redwood forests, wind farms, warm sun and sparkling lakes, all evoking California's wild gold-mining past, present and future. These are the themes that fueled my new "California Gold" landscape series2008_6_Landscape which combines Kanika-style tiles to make hills and valleys, different fabrics to represent sky, glass to simulate water features, and found objects for wind farms and highways and forests, etc. These wall sculptures are generally 30"-48" wide and less than 10" tall to give a broad, panoramic feeling.

Read more about the new landscape series on my Spirituality and Art Blog.  I will bring a couple of these landscapes to the Art Fiesta and Elk Grove Artist shows this June.  I would love to get your feedback!
