SEASONS GREETINGS FROM NORTHERN N.H.!

 

    Old Man Winter is taking his sweet time to make his annual appearance this year, with Back Lake barely having a skim of ice and the woods with a mere 4" - 6" of snow on the ground so far. Things can change very quickly up here though, so don't lose faith, those of the "cold and snow" persuasion. We have the new snowmobile trail maps ready (yes, there's been a few changes - some really scenic ones too), and now all there is to do is wait for mother nature to do the rest. Keep checking with the Pittsburg Ridge Runners for the latest updates on trail conditions.     

 

Even if there's not quite enough snow depth for snowmobiling, there should be enough to enjoy Pittsburg's other winter sports, wilderness cross country skiing and snowshoeing. We have some great areas to explore in town, and the Cohos Trail hiking system is a fantastic way to spend a winter day outdoors. We're offering snowshoe rentals now for our guests, so just ask us at the front desk for our recommendations on the best places to go and burn off those holiday calories. 

 

What's going on here at the lodge? Not too many changes, but we will have a new gas fireplace in the Tavern, making it a bit more cozy for apres snowmobiling. Over the Christmas holiday week, Sarah and Amber of our Eden Day Spa will be offering specials all week, so call us at 1-800-835-6343 to make an appointment for a relaxing massage or facial.

     The three amigos, as we call them, actually posed pretty well for this picture. All it took was the promise of more time out in the woods chasing grouse this fall and a few extra treats.

     Our grouse hunting season ended up as one of our better ones lately. All of the dogs did a great job, with Rudy (left) and Monty (middle) getting a lot of time out there, and even Greta chipped in on a few unfortunate birds in 2012. Now they get to relax for the holidays ...
