November E-Newsletter
| November 2, 2011
|
Dear Friends,
It's been a while since our last newsletter -- we've been busy enjoying the sun, playing with our horses and awaiting the return of our co-founder and Program Director Robbie Maus who attended a 3 month training this summer in Colorado. We are planning now for our Spring 2012 program! (Updates will be provided as we have them.) In the meantime, we've joined ranks with many other Nevada nonprofits participating in NEVADA'S BIG GIVE: 24 hours of community giving. One incredible chance to shape our future. On November 17th, our community will come together for Nevada's Big Give, and we need YOU to join us. It's 24 hours of unprecedented nonprofit giving-and it's your chance make a real difference, right here in our community. If you love partnering kids and horses to teach positive life and social skills, then you love Horses for the Spirit. And by showing your love through Nevada's Big Give, you help sustain this amazing organization, which gives so much to our community. Our goal is to raise $3,000 on November 17 and we're going to need your help to do that! Join me in supporting our community. On November 17th, give where you live by donating online at NVBigGive.org. Thank you to Candy Sader who donated to us early to get us started! |

ADDITIONAL WAYS TO SUPPORT HORSES FOR THE SPIRIT'S BIG GIVE FUNDRAISING GOAL
SPREAD THE WORD
Use email, Facebook, Twitter and any other social media accounts you may have to spread the word about what we're doing and when. You can use the link - copy and paste it in your social media message: http://nvbiggive.razoo.com/story/Horsesforthespirit?referral_code=share
MAKE PHONE CALLS ON NOVEMBER 17 TO ENCOURAGE FRIENDS, FAMILY, PEERS, CO-WORKERS AND NEIGHBORS TO DONATE
That's right, pick up that phone and start calling to ask others to donate to support our kids and our community! If we all pull together and get 120 people to donate $25 each, we'll reach our goal! Tell them to go to http://nvbiggive.razoo.com/story/Horsesforthespirit to make a donation! It's safe, secure and fast!

OFFER A MATCHING DONATION TO ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO GIVE

MESSAGE FROM ROBBIE MAUS CO-FOUNDER/PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Well it has been just over a month since my return from three months at the Parelli Ranch in lovely Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Boy, oh boy, does time fly! It will take me years to realize the impact of all that I learned about myself, horses, teaching and especially teammanship!

CALM AND CONFIDENT AND STILL NEEDING HELP by Volunteer Maureen Kimberling
Last week on a warm Fall day, Nifty, my thirty year old beautiful Bay mare, and I shared another learning experience. I realized that in the horse world there is no end to learning. It was a perfect day to give Nifty a bath and let her dry in the sun. While munching on grass in the front yard, of course, Nifty wanted to roll. When I turned around she had chosen a place with a slight incline, and was not able to get the momentum to get back up. Read the full story here. |
