Dear Friends,
We've got some exciting news to share!
Program Director and co-founder of Horses for the Spirit, Robbie Maus (read more about HFTS and Robbie here), has been accepted into a three-month professional training program at Parelli Natural Horsemanship. As many of you know, our curriculum has been developed around the Parelli 7 Games with the focus on teaching positive life and social skills.
In this immersion program, Robbie will be learning what are called the Four Business Savvys:- Teaching
- Horsemanship
- Business Administration - which includes marketing and savvy use of social networking
- Facilities & Maintenance
We are very proud of her acceptance into this high-quality and strenuous program, and when she returns, the potential for growth of the organization in many areas will be enhanced.
Horses for the Spirit will benefit by having:
- a Parelli certified instructor to train new program instructors within Horses for the Spirit which will increase our reach in the community over time;
- the opportunity to develop a training program to bring in others from our industry which will help financially support HFTS and its mission as well as expand the reach of our programs outside the area;
- the possibility of offering certified clinics open to anyone in the community as a means of raising funds to help support our organization;
- the ability to offer enhanced training opportunities for our volunteers in all four of the business savvys.
This is as a real opportunity to increase the strength of our organization and to build upon what we've spent the last five and a half years developing.
We encourage you to support Horses for the Spirit in this endeavor by making a tax-deductible cash donation to support the cost of this training. We believe the long-term impact of this training will be substantial to the growth and sustainability of Horses for the Spirit.
No funds from grants or previous fundraisers are going to be utilized to support any portion of the cost of this training, so if continuing education and increasing the growth and sustainability of Horses for the Spirit are high on your list of priorities, please consider donating today. (Please specify that your donation is for this training.)
Sincerely, Deb Conrad Executive Director |

IN THEIR OWN WORDS Feedback from our Participants
"If it wasn't for this program I would still be hard headed and I wouldn't be flexible."
"I have learned how to interact with the horses in their language and not insisting they do what I want. I was willing to meet them halfway, which is unusual for me."
"Dudley really tells me by his emotions that he is confused so that tells me I have to do it different or better."

SPRING PROGRAMS
 Our spring programs with No Child Left Behind Behavioral Health Services start in April. We'll be conducting a 6-week program starting Wednesday, April 27. This program will serve children ages 7 to 11 and will be an Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) Games-Based Program. This program will take place at the facility in the North Valleys. We'll also be conducting an 8-week program beginning on Saturday, April 30. This program will be held at our newly secured Spanish Springs location. We'll serve kids 12 to 18 with this program and it will be an EAL/Natural Horsemanship program. |
