QUOTE OF THE MONTH
"We think that just because they look different and communicate different from us that they have nothing in common when really we have more in common than we think." -- Brenda

A Great Success!

Wine & Spirits, Horses for the Spirit's first annual fundraiser, was held on Thursday, November 5th. It was a lot of fun and a great success for us! The location, Art Source gallery, was amazing and Whispering Vine Wine Co. provided a wonderful selection of wines for the wine tasting.

Our net proceeds from the event were about $2500. Those funds will definitely help us fund programs in the Spring. Our in-kind donations for the event were nearly $4000 for raffle prizes and advertising! That is a lot of support from the community!

The guests at the event were the icing on the cake. They were smiling and sampling wine and food and visiting with each other. The room was full of laughter and the atmosphere was festive and friendly.

Click here to view photos from the event! We think they turned out great.

We owe thanks to many, many folks and businesses for the success of this event.

Thanks to all of you who attended, purchased raffle tickets and/or made donations in support of our fundraising efforts. You really made us feel like you all believe in what we're doing as much as we do.

Special thanks to Susan Lohse for volunteering to take the lead on this event and helping to make it what it was through her expertise and connections. Reece Flaherty also deserves thanks for her efforts on our behalf prior to going into surgery.

Thanks also to Carol Gadda, Laura Lohse, Deb Smith, Mike Jennings, M'Lissa Wilkins, Chris Hamlin and Maureen Kimberling and Bruce and Cindy Hartzell for working at the event.

The support of all of these businesses and individuals is crucial to our ability to serve Washoe County youth, particularly those who are at-risk of failing in traditional settings. Sincere thanks to all of you.
PROGRAM WITH CHILDREN'S CABINET
The program with Children's Cabinet continues on Tuesdays afternoons. Weather has been a bit of a challenge, but we get out there with kids and horses when the weather allows. The next challenge to overcome: the lack of daylight!

We are offering volunteers the opportunity to sign up to observe the program and learn about a different type of program that we offer. There will be three spots per session, so depending on the interest level, volunteers may or may not be able to attend more than one session.

Please contact Pam Olivieri to schedule your attendance for this program and receive directions.

We hope you've enjoyed this newsletter and encourage you to send it to friends, family and colleagues who might be interested in Horses for the Spirit. Please send us an email if you have any trouble viewing this newsletter or if you have questions or comments.

Sincerely,

THANK YOU!
We couldn't do what we do without support from foundations and individuals in our community. We are grateful for the support and know that the kids who have been able to participate in our programs because of your financial support are very thankful too!
