HAPPY SPRING!
At last, spring has arrived and our 2009 programs have begun. To add to the celebratory feeling about the changing seasons, we were recently notified that the Reno Rodeo  Foundation awarded us a grant to help fund program supplies and graduation day parties. Horses for the Spirit is extremely grateful for this support from such an important organization in our community. Support the foundation by supporting the Reno Rodeo!
The weeds are also celebrating spring as they make their way to the surface and spread themselves happily around our facility. We're having a Spring Fling to spruce up the place and the girls from the McGee Center will be joining us. Please support their efforts and provide good role models for them by signing yourself up to join us all on April 5th. (See below for more information.)

SPRING FLING - CLEAN UP DAY AT THE RANCH!
SUNDAY, APRIL 5th, 9 AM TO 1PM... LUNCH PROVIDED
Come on down and join the young ladies of McGee Center and other dedicated Horses for the Spirit volunteers for a clean up day at our facility!
We'll be flinging garbage into bags, raking up rocks and making the grounds look great for the coming year. This is the nitty gritty, down and dirty work required to keep our facility in tip top shape for our programs.
Please come for all or part of the scheduled clean up day. Coerce family and friends into joining you -- the more folks we have, the more we can get done.
We'll provide lunch and beverages for all of our hardworking volunteers.
Location: 9500 N. Virginia
Date and Time: Sunday, April 5, 9am to 1pm
What to Wear and Bring: We suggest you wear long pants, a long sleeve shirt and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. Please bring work gloves too.

Horses for the Spirit Fundraiser - We Need Committee Members
Please consider becoming a committee member for a fundraiser. We need creative and energetic folks to join this committee to help us pull off a fantastic and financially fruitful fundraiser this year to help us continue to serve youth organizations in our community! Board member RanDee Greif is heading up this committee and needs support to make the event a success! Email deb@horsesforthespirit.org to make a positive impact for us!
Macy's Community Shopping Day
Horses for the Spirit and other local nonprofits are going to receive 100+ $10 tickets to sell for the Community Shopping Day (CSD). Those who buy the $10 tickets receive offers to use in-store on the CSD. HFTS keeps the money from every ticket sold and if HFTS sells at least 100 tickets, then we'll also share in the proceeds earned on the CSD. The more tickets we sell, the more money we make!
March 5th through May 29th, 2009 - we need as many people as possible to help us sell the $10 tickets. Please RSVP to Jan Koval if you are interested at volunteers@horsesforthespirit.org
May 30th, 2009 - the Community Shopping Day - Can you work the booth?
We need a few people to help us work our booth and be available to Macy's the day of the event. If you can commit some time to this event, please RSVP to Jan Koval at volunteers@horsesforthespirit.org. More details to come about working this event.
