TRG SHADOW

The last days of official Summer may be here - but it will take a lot more than a calendar page to convince us that it is time to put away some of the best summer wines of the year.

This Friday Night - Something Special.
The definitive New Zealand Taste Test.

The people that make Dog Point Wines are the very same people that created Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc. We will taste them side by side on Friday night and you can decide for yourself if Cloudy Bay is still worth over thirty dollars a bottle. We think you will be surprised.

Take a minute to watch this video and you will understand how special Dog Point is.

Dog Point Vineyard - The Big Secret
Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc - $21

 Tanzer writes:

"This concentrated, vibrant sauvignon displays a classic sauvignon herbaceousness that's tempered by the wine's sheer richness of grapefruit and soft citrus fruit and its almost dusty impression of extract."

"New Zealand's most complex and sophisticated Sauvignon is built around passionfruit and lantana characters, with layers of complex hazelnut,  and exotic spice. Its focus, definition and textural acidity elevate it to the next level."

Rated 95 Points - The Wine 100.

Allan-Scott-RED2
Allan Scott Family Estate Wines
Allan Scott is a name synonymous with wine in Marlborough. As one of the first independent wineries to establish themselves in New Zealand back in 1990, Allan Scott Winery has made a name for itself in a highly competitive industry.

Allan has 37 years in the wine business, which makes him one of the most experienced people in Marlborough when it comes to growing, making and marketing wine.

2- Allan Scott Sauvignon Blanc- $16

Description:

The aromatics in this 2011 Sauvignon are distinctly tropical. Indulging the nose the initial sweet passion fruit then gives way to hints of lime, classic gooseberry, and dried herbs. But it is the palate where this wine embodies all that is Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

Serving Suggestions:

Sauvignon Blanc can be enjoyed on many occasions: either on its own as an aperitif, or accompanied by seafood and salad dishes. Serve chilled.

3- PONGA Pinot Noir - $14

PONGA-RED-LABEL

The 2009 Ponga Pinot Noir is a tasty, food-friendly pinot at a friendly price. This medium-bodied red has aromas of bright cherry fruit and spices. More cherries on the palate are accompanied by a touch of earthiness.

Light tannins come in on a mouthwatering acidity, making this a nice food wine. Serve with salmon or roasted chicken.

We are making a few changes in the store that we think will enhance the user experience for you.

They will not be finished by Friday night - so as the saying goes:

"Please excuse our appearance while we remodel."

Mark The Dates:

IF-YOU-SEE-KAY Friday September 7th

If You See Kay is a Cabernet Sauvignon blend made by Jayson Woodbridge of Hundred Acre and Layer Cake with grapes sourced from top vineyards in Lazio, Italy.

The bold, seductive, adventurous packaging and wine style is aimed squarely at today's young, irreverent wine drinkers - that describes you doesn't it?

Jayson Woodbridge's winemaking philosophy is "Wide open throttle or don't bother doing it at all," i.e. risk everything; all in at all times.  With that in mind, no matter where you see kay, you can be sure you will be drinking a bottle of red wine made with One Hundred Percent pure unrestrained Attitude.

The bottom line is, Jayson doesn't care what anybody thinks.  He searches out the best vineyards and makes uncompromised wine; wine that is powerful and complex, yet elegant.

Robert Parker said of Jayson, "Woodbridge is irrefutably a contrarian, but he is the kind of person you want going against mainstream, conventional thoughts.  His wines are among the most individualistic in California."
