Summer entertaining is upon us. Friday night we will pour a few of our summer favorites. Please join us from 5-8.

You might be surprised - have you ever tried a chilled summer red? They are delicious, food friendly, and usually an eye-opener.

Add to that perfectly paired cheese - and you have a great way to start your weekend. Wines that sparkle, shimmer, and delight will be in the line up.

We will also be serving samples of cocktails made with RIPE mixers. We love them. All natural, Made in Connecticut, and fabulously delicious.

Stefano_Cesari

The 'Tre Bicchieri' or 3-glass award is the most prestigious award in Italian Wine and is presented every year by Gambero Rosso, an acclaimed reviewer of Italian wines.

Stefano Cesari has won more awards and international recognition than any other Winemaker in recent history. More 100 point point scores and "Tre Bicheari" than all others combined.

He will be here to talk with you, sign purchased bottles, and extend invitations to visit his property in Italy.

The cost will be $25 per person. Reservations must be made with your credit card.

Stefano Cesari will taste through his magnificent expressions of the Valpolicella and a couple of versions of his Amarone.
To anyone not already familiar with this extraordinary estate, Brigaldara over the last decade has quietly become the darling of wine critics, wine guides, and hardcore oenophiles alike.

Quite an accomplishment for Stefano considering he originally started making wine as a "hobby" in the late seventies.

More importantly, as much as the experts in the field of wine enjoy Stefano's wines the general public has taken quite a shine to them as well. The 2009 Brigaldara Valpolicella has been a mainstay on our list for four months, due to its popularity, and when someone is adventurous enough to buy a bottle of the Amarone for dinner, an email usually follows the next day gushing about the how "great" the wine was and "can I please order a case?"

This small winery is in San Pietro in Cariano. Stefano Cesari uses natural, traditional methods to create some of the most sought-after red wines in the Veneto. His family has worked at this estate since 1928.

Despite its relatively inexpensive price tag, the 2007 Brigaldara Amarone della Valpolicella is a class act all the way. It has a deep, rich crimson color with a perfumed bouquet of dried cherries, chocolate and sweet herbs and spices.

It is nicely balanced with sweet tannins and plump, generous fruit flavors. While the '06 is ready to drink now, it would only improve with a few more years of bottle age. This is a wine with gravitas and its smooth, velvety texture makes it perfect to accompany rich meat dishes and aged cheeses.

"The wine caresses the mouth and coats the tongue with Amarone's classic dark fruit flavors that are rich, sensuous and complex." Robert Parker's Wine Enthusiast
