Wine & Cheese Tasting - Every Friday 5-8 p.m. - No Charge La Maialina GERTRUDE Rated 92 Points - $14 Robert Parker Review: La Maialina is my most exciting discovery in Tuscany so far this year. Consulting oenologist Attilio Pagli buys wines in bulk from one of Tuscany's most elite properties, then raises and bottles them in a separate facility. I was blown away by what I tasted. When you factor in the price, these are some of the most stunning values to come out of Tuscany, or anywhere for that matter.
The floral aromatics render an impression of accessibility but the darkness and richness of the fruit that follow hint at a far more important pedigree. Dark red berries, flowers and minerals add the final notes of complexity on the impressive finish. This is one of the most rewarding wines readers will find under $20." "La Maialina celebrates the history, culture and cuisine of Tuscany, prized since antiquity for its rich soil and favorable climate. The name La Maialina (little pig) refers to the Cinta Senese, which is the only native Tuscan pig to survive extinction. The wine is deep garnet with purple edges, and has flavors and aromas of purple plum, blueberry, raspberry, cocoa and hints of roasted meat and smoke. It has bright acidity and also a creamy quality. Aged 10 months in French oak barrels. Serve with roast pork, mushroom risotto or barbecued hamburgers. Enjoy this reasonably priced "super Tuscan"! This is your new favorite End Of the Summer wine - please try it on Friday night. L'Ecole No. 41 - Rated 94 Points - $16 L'Ecole Nš 41 is known for producing reliable, superior quality wines that are crafted for richness and complexity, vintage after vintage. Their dedication to making premium varietal wines begins by obtaining the highest quality fruit. As a traditional brick and mortar winery, they are engaged in growing and making 100% of our their wines. The focus is on terroir-driven, distinctive and expressive wines that reflect the unmistakable typicity of Washington State and the Walla Walla Valley. "...what has been proven beyond a doubt is that anyone who values tradition, continuity, and a track record of excellence, will eventually find their way to L'Ecole's wines. A lot of wineries succeed at making a few barrels of something good in their first or second vintage. The real challenge is to make consistently fine wine, over many years and vintages, across a wide number of varietals and blends." - Wine Enthusiast Magazine, Seattle Times. They have been honored nine consecutive years by Wine & Spirits Magazine as Winery of the Year, and becoming the second Washington winery inducted into its prestigious Hall of Fame. Please try this on Friday night. ···· Give us a call if you have any other questions The Lines Are Open: 8 6 0 - 4 4 3 - 6 8 1 7 8 6 0 - 4 4 3 - 9 4 6 3 Please pass this information along to your friends, it will help us to get the word out to everybody.
