PURE AFTER-DINNER PLEASURE Something special to sip with Stilton, nuts, or maybe just one more slice of pie. The 1994 vintage was one of the century's best.
Our Serving and pairing suggestions:
Vintage Port needs to be decanted since it is aged in bottle. Serve it in a glass with at least a six ounce capacity so that you may appreciate the wine's aromas. Vintage Port is best served with creamy blue cheeses such as Point Reyes Original Blue or a fine Stilton or Roquefort. Once opened it should be consumed within a few days.
"Deep garnet color. The nose is just beginning to evolve into musky, dried plum and raisin aromas with whiffs of tree bark, nutmeg, cumin and cloves. The palate is seriously big and voluptuous with medium to high acidity and a medium to firm level of fine tannins. Very long finish."

Crisp, fun, the perfect ingredient for weekend Mimosas. Segura Viudas is the Spanish bubbly company that also produces the omnipresent, black-bottled Freixenet.
We prefer this - authentic, bone-dry and less expensive. The King of Spain actually served this at his wedding, and of course he could afford o serve anything at all.

Les Deux Rives Corbieres Rouge $10
A classic style from the Languedoc right on the Mediterranean - more ripe fruit and pepper than many of its northern cousins in the Rhone.
The vast vineyard of Corbi�res stretches along the beautiful Mediterranean Coast of France, from the ancient Roman Capitol of Narbonne to the Pyrenees Mountains.
Les Deux Rives is a blend of wines from the best vineyards of the Val d'Orbieu, the most acclaimed wine company in the Languedoc region of France.
The name, Les Deux Rives, refers to the twin banks of the Canal du Midi built in 1600 by Louis XIV to help develop the economy of southern France and was one of the most important routes for transporting wines of the Languedoc-Roussillon to northern France, greater Europe and beyond. The label is inspired by a 1920s postcard of the Canal. Remarkable with roasted casseroles and vegetables.
Tres Picos Garnacha $16 A big, modern Grenache from Spain, inky with lots of concentration.
Robert Parker, Jr. has referred to this 100% old-vine Garnacha in past vintages as "cherry pie in a glass" with deep ruby color, aromas and flavors of kirsch liquer, licorice, garrigue, and plums.
The grapes for this wine were harvested from vineyards that cling to rugged terrain on the slopes of the famous Moncayo Mountains.
We used to call this "Clio Light" but it has taken on new dimensions in this newest vintage - a little extra leather and aged character.
This is a fun bottle to experience over time - opulent fruit opens up within the hour.

Vivid essence of black pepper, dark fruit and juniper haunts the nose, while brighter flavors of blackberries and blueberries glance off the palate. From the shadows, toasty cinnamon and nutmeg emerge, subtly embracing the deeply luscious and succulent fruit to create a full-bodied, ruby rich wine. Captured in 1, 2 and 3 year old American oak barrels, this wine showcases the best these distinct varietals have to offer.
