Dear ,

"For everything there is a season..."

For the past several years, we have been reviewing our financial situation in light  of our commitment to our mission and ministries. After much prayerful discernment, we are now in the process of consolidating our center of operations to Duxbury. We are relocating to our Duxbury property which we have owned for over one hundred years. Selling the convent in Boston will allow the Sisters to devote more money, resources and energy to our varied ministries particularly to our mission in Haiti, which we began in 1927  and which suffered severe damage in the earthquake in 2010. It is our conviction that relocating to Duxbury will allow our community to live a simpler life in a smaller, more sustainable building.

In order to keep you informed of the progress of our relocation, we have updated much of our website. We have added a number of pages related specifically to the this process. We hope to have new photographs on the site soon.

page.

Please let us know of problems with the website by emailing communications@ssmbos.org

An Exhibit of Sr. Marjorie Raphael's Paintings

Sr. Marjorie Raphael with her artwork

Sr. Marjorie Raphael's paintings will be exhibited in January and February, 2012 by invitation of

the Helen Bumpus Gallery. Mrs.Jane Bumpus Nielsen, Executive Director, visited the convent with her daughter, Mrs. Alisha Hill, Board Member of the gallery, to select the paintings that will

be on exhibit. The gallery was founded in 1968 with a gift from Helen McBurnie Bumpus, who was born  in 1891 and died at the age of 92 in 1983. Her gift to the town established an art gallery in the rotunda of the original 1909 building that housed the Duxbury Free Library. The Helen Bumpus Gallery is now located in

the center of the new Duxbury Free Library, located on Alden Street.
