The GOLDEN Artist Colors lecture/demo is a two-hour presentation on acrylic paints, gels and mediums. Learn how you can extend paint and create unique textural surfaces. Explore Grounds that create surfaces for watercolors, graphite, charcoal, pencil, pastels and silverpoint. The lecture also covers OPEN, a slow-drying acrylic paint; Digital Mixed Media products that allow you to merge digital printing with paint; and the lightfast properties of pigments, proper acrylic priming techniques, and health and safety concerns. CALL FOR MARINE ARTISTS The Kiwanis Club of Greater Westhampton announces the First Annual Oyster Festival to be held Columbus Day weekend, Saturday, October 6 at the Westhampton Beach Marina on Library Avenue. Rain date is Sunday, October 7. One goal of the Oyster Festival is to raise awareness about our Waterways and the importance of preserving their Eco-systems. CALL FOR ARTISTS Applications now being accepted for the 2013 Golden Foundation Residency Program The Sam & Adele Golden Foundation for the Arts announced today that applications are now being accepted for its 2013 residency program. Through its residency program, the Golden Foundation provides artists a one-of-a-kind opportunity to explore the widest, most innovative range of materials and technology available today for the professional artist working with paint. Located in the beautiful rolling hills of central New York and just several hundred yards from the Golden Artist Colors manufacturing facility, the Golden Foundation Residency is housed in a 19th century dairy barn which has been transformed into a 21st century artist residency, with large studio spaces and private apartments.
