East End Arts is assembling a group of East End middle school string

Internationally Acclaimed Violin Virtuoso & Conductor, Itzhak Perlman

students studying violin, viola, or cello to participate in an open rehearsal with internationally acclaimed violin virtuoso and conductor Itzhak Perlman. After a series of three rehearsals, this ensemble of East End student string players will have the opportunity to perform under the baton of Itzhak Perlman, accompanied by The Perlman Music Program Student Orchestra in a rehearsal open to the public. There are no fees for participation in this project. Three rehearsals will take place at the East End Arts School in Riverhead, on Wednesdays, July 11, July 18, and July 25, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. The open rehearsal with Maestro Perlman will take place on Friday, July 27, at 5:30 PM at Southold High School.

Violin, viola, and cello students ages 8 through 14 wishing to participate must register in advance, by Monday, July 9, by contacting the East End Arts School at 631-369-2171 or education@eastendarts.org. CALL FOR ARTISTS: North Fork Chamber of Commerce Art Show 2012 in Greenport Save the Date to catch up with area fine artists and galleries whose works will be exhibited and available for purchase. The third annual NFCC Art Show at Greenport is Saturday, July 21, 11AM-5PM in Mitchell Park, and will feature a LIVE radio broadcast with Bonnie Grice and WPPB 88.3FM Peconic Public Broadcasting. Artist-in-Residence Program in Orient, NY The William Steeple Davis Trust of Orient, Long Island is now accepting applications for an artist-in-residence for the period of October 15, 2012 through October 1, 2013. Applications are due by June 30, 2012.  The William Steeple Davis Trust artist-in-residence program was established in 1976 under the will of Mr. Davis to "provide a temporary place of abode for persons of good character who are or have been actively engaged in cultural professions, particularly in the arts, and who are without adequate funds to provide for such accommodations." Past residents' endeavors have included painting, photography, writing, sculpting, poetry and music. The house and studio are in a quiet location within sight of Orient Harbor. CALL FOR MARKETPLACE ARTISTS Global Arts/Media and Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator (DVCAI) are inviting artists to participate as vendors at the 2012 Artist Marketplace to be held at the beautiful Southampton Inn in Southampton, New York each weekend in August. Artists in a variety of media will be represented. Marketplace items will include fine art paintings, mixed media, photography, ceramics, and handcrafted jewelry, textile and accessories. CALL FOR FILM SUBMISSIONS The Hamptons Take 2 Documentary Film Festival is now accepting early submissions for documentary films in full-length or short formats. Be part of this exciting 3-day event that celebrates the art of the documentary and local filmmaking talent. The impetus for "Take 2" is to create a high-visibility venue for talented documentary filmmakers whose works deserve screen time, a second cut or 'take 2' as they say in the movie-making business. Now going into its 5th year, HT2FF presents stimulating documentary films from top filmmaking talent and famed 'legends' in the business. HT2FF's mission is to build community around the art of visual storytelling. The 2012 festival is scheduled for November 30, Dec. 1, and Dec. 2 at the Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor. CALL FOR ARTISTS: Exhibition Opportunity at Maritime Art Show The East End Classic Boat Society and the Artist Alliance of East Hampton are inviting artists to exhibit their maritime work at the second annual Maritime Art Show in the Community Boat Shop in Amagansett (indoors) to be held Friday, July 13, 1PM to 5PM; Saturday, July 14 10AM to 4PM; Sunday, July 15 12PM to 4PM. Artwork needs to have a maritime theme, including one or more of the following subjects: beach, dunes, wetlands, boats, fishing and nautical. Original maritime work only (no reproductions.) Drop-off of artwork will be Thursday, July 12 from 12PM to 4PM and Friday, July 13 from 10AM to 12Noon at the Community Boat Shop.
