Explore and experiment the Monotype/Monoprint processes using a printmaking press. Participants will paint/draw on plexiglass plates using non-toxic paints. Under the guidance of the instructor, participants will experiment with subtractive, additive and chine-colle techniques as well as adding stencils and found objects. All levels welcome.

Draw / Paint Montauk Lighthouse as viewed from Camp Hero. Receive instruction in use of watercolor paint and composition while painting in the beautiful location at the East End of Long Island. For students of all levels and experience, this workshop revisits the history of abstract art while analyzing several influential paintings. Students of all levels and experience will gain confidence and a more comprehensive understanding of what makes an abstract piece successful. A variety of painting applications, styles, and subjects will be explored. Students will create several paintings in a medium of their choice, and will be encouraged to abstract from their own representational works by analyzing and synthesizing their compositions.

East End Arts member Jonathan Pearlman will have his second annual solo sculpture exhibition at the Water Mill Museum from June 14 to July 9, 2012. The opening reception will take place on Sunday, June 24 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Museum. The museum gallery is open from 11 AM to 5 PM daily; Sunday from 1 PM to 5 PM; and is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Similar to happenings at Times Square in New York City, and many other locations throughout the world, Peconic River Yoga and East End Arts invite all East End yogis and drummers to come together for a celebration on the longest day of the year. The event will feature yoga, chanting, meditation, and drumming. The suggested donation is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors or children. Light refreshments for the event have generously been donated by The Dark Horse Restaurant in Riverhead.

Found Objects Any items that are old or unused, lost or found, are being collected at the EEA Gallery for artists to choose from and incorporate into a work of art for this summer's "Found Objects" Show - items will be used to create a piece of art. Artists are invited to choose from the collection of items at the Gallery to create their pieces.

PROMOTE YOUR WORK Patch.com is offering an exciting FREE publicity opportunity for artists. The community news website has created a column called First Impressions - where an image of artwork is posted each week and readers respond by writing comments about what the work means to them. At the end of the week, the artist posts what they were thinking when they created the piece. OPEN CALL for PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION The Art League of Long Island is accepting artist applications for their upcoming photography competition and exhibit titled "Cultural Identity:  Through the Lens".  The exhibit is scheduled to run August 4 through September 2 in the League's Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery. Cultural diversity was selected as the focus of the exhibit in an effort to inspire genuine dialogue among cultures.  Artist interpretations capturing the essence of cultural diversity in images created via any form of photography will be accepted for consideration (i.e., shot on film, shot digitally, unaltered shots, alternative process, mixed media, digital manipulations, montages, photograms, etc.) as long as part of the image is photographically created and the photo is original to the artist.  Artists from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut are eligible to apply. OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS: "Making an Impression" Juried Printmaking Show The Huntington Arts Council announces its First Annual Juried Printmaking Show, which will run from August 3 - September 10, 2012. Artist-in-Residence Program in Orient, NY The William Steeple Davis Trust of Orient, Long Island is now accepting applications for an artist-in-residence for the period of October 15, 2012 through October 1, 2013. Applications are due by June 30, 2012.  The William Steeple Davis Trust artist-in-residence program was established in 1976 under the will of Mr. Davis to "provide a temporary place of abode for persons of good character who are or have been actively engaged in cultural professions, particularly in the arts, and who are without adequate funds to provide for such accommodations." Past residents' endeavors have included painting, photography, writing, sculpting, poetry and music. The house and studio are in a quiet location within sight of Orient Harbor. CALL FOR FILM SUBMISSIONS The Hamptons Take 2 Documentary Film Festival is now accepting early submissions for documentary films in full-length or short formats. Be part of this exciting 3-day event that celebrates the art of the documentary and local filmmaking talent. The impetus for "Take 2" is to create a high-visibility venue for talented documentary filmmakers whose works deserve screen time, a second cut or 'take 2' as they say in the movie-making business. Now going into its 5th year, HT2FF presents stimulating documentary films from top filmmaking talent and famed 'legends' in the business. HT2FF's mission is to build community around the art of visual storytelling. The 2012 festival is scheduled for November 30, Dec. 1, and Dec. 2 at the Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor. CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: NYFA's Artist as Entrepreneur Boot Camp for Performing Artists Hosted by NYU Steinhardt 

Hosted by NYU Steinhardt's Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions Performing Arts Administration Program
The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA)'s "The Artist as Entrepreneur: Boot Camp" is an intense 5 session course that trains 50-60 artists in the fundamental principles of sustainability - and ultimately profitability - in the arts. This includes classes on finance, accounting, law, marketing, and fundraising. The structure is a blend of formal lectures, breakout groups, take-home assignments, and one-on-one consultations. This is for members of the performing arts community including, dance, theater, film, music, music composition and more.
