Dear Friends,

The end of summer is around the corner. Some of you are back at school already, and others are getting ready for opening days.  Each new year is so full of expectation and optimism!  We send our good wishes for a joyful beginning and excellent year.

Here at AWSNA we've working hard - financial planning, preparing the DVD for teacher recruitment and retention -  and the web site is no exception. We're very proud and happy about our refreshed on-line bookstore, Books&More. We're also working on our ALL NEW ALUMNI site and look forward to being in touch with many of you and getting your feedback.

Warm good wishes for the 2009-2010 school year!

Published in July 2009 by The University of Chicago Press, the book adds a historical dimension to Tobin's earlier research published in the original "Preschool in Three Cultures," which was heralded as a landmark study in education in 1989 largely due to his ingenious method for exploring how preschoolers were taught in China, Japan, and the United States.

Ninetieth Anniversary of Waldorf Education Celebrated
SAVE THE DATE: October 17, 2009

Ninety years ago Waldorf Education was formally launched in Stuttgart, Germany. The Puget Sound Collaborative Group invites you to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of Waldorf Education as a part of the fall conference of AWSNA's Northwest Region.

Collaboration is the theme of the conference's Saturday afternoon session and of the Anniversary event.  According to the coordinators: "We want people to recognize how far Waldorf education has come; be reminded of how much it has to offer the world; create a vision for schools and their communities working together in meaningful ways; and nurture actions to accomplish that vision."

You can register for the conference on Why Waldorf Works after Sept. 1.
