Dear Friends,
The end of summer is around the corner. Some of you are back
at school already, and others are getting ready for opening days. Each new
year is so full of expectation and optimism! We send our good wishes for
a joyful beginning and excellent year.
Here at AWSNA we've working hard - financial planning, preparing
the DVD for teacher recruitment and retention - and the web site is no
exception. We're very proud and happy about our refreshed on-line bookstore,
Books&More. We're also working on our ALL NEW ALUMNI site and look forward to being in
touch with many of you and getting your feedback.
Warm good wishes for the 2009-2010 school year!

Preschool in Three Cultures Revisited: China, Japan, and the United States
College professor Joseph Tobin provides new insights into the impact of
globalization and sweeping social transformation on preschool education
in his new book, "Preschool in Three Cultures Revisited: China, Japan,
and the United States." Published in July 2009 by The University of
Chicago Press, the book adds a historical dimension to Tobin's earlier
research published in the original "Preschool in Three Cultures," which
was heralded as a landmark study in education in 1989 largely due to
his ingenious method for exploring how preschoolers were taught in
China, Japan, and the United States.
