On May 8, 2012 I was happy to report to the Chamber Board of Directors that our membership was on the increase and we are again approaching 700 members. Our sales team of Shirley Smith and Jennifer Weber are doing an outstanding job with membership sales. Also, our Ambassadors' Committee, Chaired by Mr. Eddie Sigmon, Eddie Sigmon & Associates, has helped to spread the good word about the Chamber and the opportunities it offers members to promote their business and develop new business contacts.
Examples of some of the most recent and planned Chamber events include: a May 16 Networking Luncheon, May 17 Tri-County Chamber Business After Hours at Duke Energy's Energy Explorium, where approximately 700 Chamber members attend the annual event, a May 22 Seminar led by Sherre' DeMao entitled "From E Buzz to E Prospects to E Profits: Using the Power of the internet to Grow Your Business," and the May 24th 33rd Annual Academic Achievement Awards Banquet co-sponsored by the Chamber and the Lincoln County Board of Education.
Other plans for later on in the year include the start of work on a new "Quality of Life" magazine and Membership Directory for the Chamber, which will better promote our community to both potential newcomers and businesses. The new magazine project is scheduled to start in August 2012 and wrap up by the end of December 2012. 5,000 copies of the promotional magazine will be ready for distribution in January of 2013. We will be sending more information out in the near future to our membership to let everyone know that we have this project planned and approved by the Chamber's Board of Directors. It will be a great way to promote both our community and our Chamber membership!
Those of you wondering when our Membership Golf Outing will be, please go ahead and mark your calendar for September 19, 2012. The outing will be held at Verdict Ridge Country Club. Before then though, don't miss out on our Friday, June 8, 2012 Membership Night at the Crawdad's baseball game in Hickory, NC at Frans Stadium. This is really a relaxed and fun event for all Chamber members! Please watch for more information on this event around the end of May. (Box seat tickets will cost only $5.00 and the first 10 Chamber members to sign up will attend FREE!)
