NFTC Open House Presentation
Greetings!

The Northeast Forensic Training Center would like to thank everyone who was involved with making our grand opening a success.  We received an abundance of support from the college administration, fellow colleagues and government officials. Our next challenge is to make the center even better for the professional development of first responders and the service we provide to our respective jurisdictions. With your support we have no doubts that the Center will continue to grow and continue to make our communities safer.

NFTC Open House Recap
by Cynthia Tintorri, NCC Public Information

Even though there were rooms with blood splatters, homicide victims and handguns, Northampton Community College's Fowler Family Southside Center was probably the safest place for a citizen to be on Friday, March 2. Police and fire department officials from five different counties -- not to mention a few coroners, district attorneys and a mayor! -- were on hand to get a look at the new Northeast Forensic Training Center (NFTC) at the facility's open house.

The idea for the center originated from conversations between NCC Vice President of Community Education Paul Pierpoint, Sgt. Andy Kehm of the Bethlehem Police Department, and Tom Barnowski, director of corporate and public safety programs for NCC's Center for Business and Industry. As Pierpoint explained in his opening address, "Andy Kehm [program manager for the NFTC] recognized that the region really needs a place where first responders can be trained in forensics by professionals in the field. We're here today largely because of his efforts and persistence."
