China Garden Party & Bon Voyage

PYSO's "China Garden Party" is set for Sunday, May 25 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM in the afternoon when you can join Honorary Chair Joanne Rogers in wishing "Bon Voyage" to Daniel Meyer and PYSO as they make the final preparations for their China Tour. Co-sponsored by the Confucius Institute at the University of Pittsburgh, the afternoon will include Chinese-inspired appetizers, entertainment, prizes, drawings, cash bar, and music provided by small ensembles of PYSO members throughout the outdoor plaza area and in the Grand Lobby at Heinz Hall.  For ticket information please email or call 412-392-4872.  China Garden Party tickets can also be purchased online.

As Pittsburgh's Junior Ambassadors to China, PYSO will be performing in some of the finest concert halls of Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong - as well as on the Great Wall of China! The two-week tour (June 16-30, 2008) promises to be a once in a lifetime musical and cultural experience for these talented young musicians!

It is our goal that PYSO continues to include the finest student musicians in the Pittsburgh area, regardless of their ability to afford the costs of an overseas tour.  The cost of the tour to the students is substantial and many of our students will need financial assistance.  We ask you to consider making a donation that will be designated specifically to the China Tour. You can donate online with your credit card.

PYSO students themselves are also working to defray the cost of their trip through a project sponsored by the PYSO Parents Association.  The Painted Violins and Other Intriguing Instruments raffle features over a dozen instruments decorated by local Pittsburgh artists.  You can view these artistic projects and purchase tickets through the PYSO website. Raffle ticket proceeds will benefit PYSO 's China Tour fund.

We hope that you will join in this effort to provide an unparalleled experience to our outstanding student musicians.
