Two Democratic Senators Face Recall Election Tomorrow (Tuesday)
Tomorrow, Tuesday, August 16, two more Senate Recall Elections will occur. Those recalls will be against two Democratic incumbent Senators - first-term Senator Jim Holperin (D-Conover) and long-time Senator Robert Wirch (D-Pleasant Prairie).

Last Tuesday, six Republican State Senators faced recall elections against Democratic challengers. Four Republican Senators - Rob Cowles (District 2),  Alberta Darling (District 8), Sheila Harsdorf (District 10) and Luther Olsen (District 14) held their seats while two GOP Senators lost - Dan Kapanke (District 32) to State Representative Jen Shilling (D-La Crosse) and Randy Hopper (District 18) lost to Oshkosh Deputy Mayor Jess King (D-Oshkosh).

As a result of last Tuesday's recall elections, Republicans maintained control of the Senate by the minimum margin of 17 to 16. That number is down from their previous 19 to 14 margin that they held prior to last Tuesday's elections. However, they only lost two seats, which means that Democrats fell short in their attempts to take back control of the Senate.

Heading into tomorrow's recall elections, voters in northern and southeastern Wisconsin will have a chance to weigh in on the future direction of the state.  However, whatever happens tomorrow, Republicans will still control the Senate after all of this summer's recall elections.

Overview Tomorrow's Democratic Senate Recall Elections
Senate District 12 - Merrill, Antigo, Rhinelander and far northeastern Wisconsin - held by first-term Democratic Senator Jim Holperin (D-Conover) faces Republican Kim Simac. Simac is the founder of the Northwoods Patriots Tea Party.

There are two recent polls done in this race. The Democratic leaning Public Policy Polling (PPP) firm shows the incument Holperin leading by a 55%-41% margin with a ±2.6% margin of error. The Republican leaning poll done by We Ask America shows the race very close with Holperin leading 51% to 49% with a margin of error of 2.6%

Senate District 22 - most of Kenosha County - held by long-time Democratic Senator Bob Wirch (D-Kenosha) faces Attorney Jonathan Steitz (R-Kenosha).

The most recent polling by Public Policy Polling shows Wirch leading 55%-42%, with a ±2.9% margin of error
