Joint Committee on Finance to Meet Wednesday and Thursday this Week   

This week, the Joint Committee on Finance is scheduled to have a busy week as it marches closer to the end of its nearly five-week long deliberation of the Governor's 2011-13 biennial budget on Wednesday, May 18, and Thursday, May 19.  

 

Late last week, Joint Finance Committee Co-chair Robin Vos says the committee plans to finish its work on the budget by June 4. 

 

Vos, R-Rochester, told members today to keep Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday open next week. He also told them to keep open Tuesday through Saturday the following week.

 

"Our intention is to finish the budget no later than the end of the week (of June 4)," Vos said (www.wispolitics.com).  

 

 The Committee is scheduled to be in Tuesday, May 24, and Thursday, May 26.    

 

Tuesday, May 24, Scheduled Agenda Items Include

  • Dept of Employee Trust Funds.
  • Government Accountability Board.
  • DOT - Transportation Finance.
  • DOT - Local Transportation Aid.
  • DOT - State Highway Program.
  • DOT - State Patrol.

Governor Walker to Sign Numerous Bills this Week  

This week, the legislature is NOT in session, but Governor Walker will be busy signing several bills into law this week that the legislature recently passed.  

 

The Governor will sign several bills - some that are high in profile like the Voter ID bill and the Telecom Modernization bill.

Monday

SS-AB-8. Agency Rules (Assembly Organization) Changes affecting agency rule-making.

SB-61. Overweight Vehicles (Galloway) Multiple trip permits for overweight vehicles transporting granular roofing material.

SB-12. Retail Sales (Wanggaard) Allows retailers to advertise discounts equal to the state and local sales taxes.

SB-20. Milwaukee Schools (Darling) Authorizes the City of Milwaukee to sell city-owned property used for school purposes.

AB-23. Water Systems(Severson) Prohibits DNR from requiring a municipal water systems to provide continuous disinfection of the water that it provides, unless continuous disinfection is required under federal law.

 

Tuesday

SS-SB-13. Telecom (Senate Organization) Omnibus revision of telecommunications regulation.

 

Wednesday

AB-7. Voter ID (Stone) Voter ID.

 

Friday
