The Sippican Lands Trust, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded in 1974 for the acquisition, management and protection of natural areas in Marion.  The ultimate goal of the Trust is to protect wildlife, ecosystems and natural resources as well as the history, heritage and beauty of the area.  Open land not only provides us with a sense of tranquility and pleasure now, but the protection of this land is our legacy for future generations.

Dear Friend of SLT,

Please enjoy our E-Newsletter, including what is going on at SLT and feature properties and events that may be of interest to you.  Please encourage your friends and family to join the mailing list!
May is Membership Month at SLT
and because of the wonderful response we are extending it into June.

Our ability to continue to this work, to maintain our lands, and to be in the position to acquire critical lands in the future depends on our membership and corporate sponsorships for our events.  Please take a moment to renew your membership by sending in the renewal card you will receive with your renewal letter.  As you can see on the card, SLT will now accept credit cards!

We appreciate your continued support!

Our New Home

As you may have heard, SLT moved to our new home at 354 Front Street.  We wanted to thank every one who joined us for our Open House and Property Tour on May 4th.  It was great to see you and we hope you enjoyed visiting a sampling of SLT preserves.

Our section dedicated to recent news relating to stewardship.

Earlier this month, Dan Duggan, an Eagle Scout candidate, completed a project on SLT's Peirson Woods Property.  He built a great viewing platform.

If you climb to the top of the platform you can see into the marsh and experience a great view of the Peirson Marsh and Blankenship Cove.  We thank him for all this hard work!

Radio Tower
was generously donated to SLT in 1986.

radiotower

Features:
The 440-foot high radio towers, erected by the Marconi Wireless Telegraph Company in 1914, were used by the US Air Force during World War II.  In 1956 all but one of the 14 towers were dismantled.  The remains are still seen throughout the 109 acres. This property abuts other SLT preserves, including Barnabas, White Eagle, and Bow Bells and links through Barnabas to the Haskell Swamp Wildlife Management Area.

Location:
Along the former Railroad bed on the south side
