This summer we'll be Cooking Up Fun
at Pies & Plates
Kid's love to cook! At Pies & Plates kids get to dress up like cooks and go to work in our Prepped & Ready kitchen!
During class, each parent/child team will assemble a family size Prepped & Ready entree of their choice (a $20 value).
The children learn about safe food handling and discover the joys of cooking. They'll develop their reading and measuring skills and discover new ingredients.
We've learned that when kids help with the cooking they are more willing to taste new foods! And, it is much easier to teach children about nutrition when you are preparing foods together.
During class, each child will have an opportunity to create a fun craft project while enjoying juice and mini muffins! This "table time" gives mom or dad the opportunity to prepare extra Prepped & Ready entrees or to browse in Pies & Plates' retail store.
If the class wants to and the weather is nice (and time allows) we can burn off some energy with coffee bean bag races! Don't they look "hoppy"!
Fee: The class is only $25 per child. If you deduct the value of the entree ($20) then the fun and snacks are just $5 per child! What a deal!
Also this summer...The Science of Gelato
An interactive class for elementary school children taught by Barista Shavanna Holland!
During this tasty science class kids discover the pleasures of gelato! (Italian Ice Cream) They learn where it comes from, how it is made, what temperature it is served at, how much it weights, etc. They learn how gelato differs from American ice cream. And, best of all they get to use their taste buds to identify the ingredients in many, many samples. In the end, the class will vote on their favorite flavor and give it a name!
 
Fee: The fee for this class is $5.00 per child. But, each child gets a coupon for a free cup of gelato (a $3.75 value) to use on their next visit so the fun and education is really just $1.25! What a deal!

Don't miss our Cup Cake Decorating Class
Sweet, messy and fun! Taught by Beth Lanni in our Prepped & Ready Kitchen! Registration required. Classes are limited to 10 children.
Fee: $10 for the first child/$5 for each additional child. Each child takes home 4 cup cakes and gets to eat one during class! Juice also served. Parent helpers welcome!

Mark your calendar - Breakfast with a Princess
Start the summer vacation off right!
You don't have to spend a fortune on Disney tickets to give your little princess a thrill! Her royal highness, Princess Vanessa Cecilia Calena Maria the Morning Dove of Mondamin will be putting in a special guest appearance at Pies & Plates on Saturday June 7, 2008. Bring your little princess to Pies & Plates for a free autograph and photo opportunity. Children are encouraged to dress up! If you want (optional), your little princess can join other princesses at our banquet table for a royal tea featuring yummy baked french toast, fresh fruit and warm berry berry herbal tea - $5 per child. Be sure to enter our drawing to win a real tiara! Don't forget your camera! First come, First served!
