Featured Artist: Tony Curtis

Tony Curtis (1925 - 2010) was one of the most beloved Hollywood stars, appearing in some of the best known films of the '50s and '60s including Houdini, The Defiant Ones, and Some Like It Hot.

Curtis' other artistic passion was painting - something that he did his whole life and began selling commercially in the 1980s.  During the last few years of his life, Curtis devoted much of his time to the art form saying, "I still make movies but I'm not interested anymore.
I paint all the time."

Curtis places his influences in Van Gogh, Matisse and Picasso. His work features vibrant colours, joyful movement and flowing, sensuous forms.  During his lifetime, Curtis' work was shown throughout the United States and Canada, as well as London and Paris.  His work, The Red Table was shown at the Metropolitan Museum in New York.

This piece was acquired in Las Vegas where the artist lived and worked in the later years of his life.
