Arctic Experience McNaught Gallery Newsletter - 1.2
Our new look!
We've changed the layout of the gallery in order to accommodate more framing, conservation and appraisals. We now have a cozy exhibit space featuring the best in our collection of Inuit sculpture and historical works.

We are now open by appointment or chance.  Let us know if you'd like to stop in for a tour of the new gallery!

Featured Artist: Allen Sapp
Sapp grew up on Red Pheasant reserve in Saskatchewan where his favourite activities were drawing and sketching. He moved to North Battleford, Saskatchewan in 1960 to pursue a career as a professional artist.

Sapp found success in the realist tradition, depicting everyday scenes from his memories of life on the reserve. His work is considered an excellent and sensitive record of 20th century Cree culture.

The painting at the gallery is a mid-winter scene of a man returning from chopping firewood.

Cleaning works on paper

Works on paper can become faded over time, stained or discoloured.  Our conservator can clean works and restore them to their original brilliance.
