How can I ...
·get pubescents or adolescents to move and engage in class? ·learn simple and quick games to inspire my students and laugh with them? ·help my kids exercise their funny bones in ways that aren't sarcastic and go beyond silly slapstick humor? ·gain a few skills in things like circus arts (juggling, basic acrobatics?) ·bring dance into my lesson when I don't know anything about dance? ·spice up my play prep or drama class with new more active material?
If you have asked yourself these questions, you've come to the right place. Join us in Costa Mesa in Orange County, California, this February for a big jolt of fun and creativity!

Setting The Stage for Adolescence - February 15 - 18 in Costa Mesa, CA
using physical theater, circus arts and dance in the classroom
You will walk away with the ability to set up a structure for your classroom needs, PE, drama, or otherwise, including hard and soft skills. You will learn tools and a road map to bring playful dramatic games in a group setting to build confidence and competence in expression. At the end of the workshop, we will present a brief performance to practice our onstage skills. The wonderful thing about this work is that it doesn't have to be polished to be presented, because even the mistakes become part of the art!
This is important stuff for adolescents, because they try on attitudes like clothing as teens. They watch us, then they don our walk, slip on our tone of voice, mimic our gestures for a while, discarding them and trying something new. Dramatic interactive games give them a structured format and permission to develop this skill.
These activities can be used all year long - in the classroom to get things moving, for games and drama classes, play preparation, and assemblies large and small. We develop the five senses (if not more) through the first five grades. The sixth sense in grade six is the sense of humor. For teachers already comfortable with drama, now add exercising the funny bone! Join us! We hope to see you there!
