The Worst Food You Can Eat
NOT MEAT, NOT SOY, NOT DAIRY, BUT COOKED STARCH!!!
From my late teenage years to my early twenties I made the transition from omnivore to vegetarian, eliminating red meat, chicken, fish, and dairy products. Soy was believed to be healthier and it was exciting to experience all the soy substitutions for the more common meat and dairy food choices. Today, research and studies show that soy is far from a food that anyone should eat daily for their protein and fat requirements. See my last newsletter for more information on Soy and the potential dangers HERE. It was only until making the transition to raw foods where I realized how powerful and addictive the "healthy" cooked starchy vegetarian foods were. "Healthy" chips, cereal, wheat, popcorn, oats, beans, cookies, donuts, bread, biscuits, cornbread, pasta, rice, cakes, and on and on, was the most difficult and last gate to a true diet and health.
Cooked starches are the most addictive food on the planet. You could argue that cooked starches fall in the category of all addictive drugs. In fact, it is no different than over the counter drugs, or recreational drugs when looking at the long term damaging effects on the body. On a whole, cooked processed starches raise the blood glucose sugar more than any other food. This drug like effect is addictive and dangerous. On top of the that, cooked starch is the whole reason for improper food combinations. Any time anyone eats cooked starch for a snack or a meal, it is almost always combined with another food that the body cannot digest simultaneously, like fat. If you eat starches by themselves, they are more exposed for the food that they are, which is paste. However, combine it with oil, butter, cream, cheese, gravy, milk, icing, etc. then you have a dangerous combination that will first lead to improper digestion and assimilation which will then lead to weight gain and much more serious complications.
It should be mentioned that the processed starches that we find in many foods today are again a result of the devolution of agribusiness and its many direct affects on our health. Wheat flour devolved as a result of removing key components of the plant, then cooked and processed for long shelf life. The greater a food's shelf life, the shorter your life! Starches are also devoid of any color. The color of food is very important and critical for nutrients and minerals. Usually, the richer the pigment, the richer the nutritional content. Starches have no nutrtional content in comparison to dark berries and green leafy vegetables. Starches are also absent of any moisture. Because of the lack of moisture in foods like beans, rice, barley, oats, etc., boiling with water is a necessity in order to even chew these foods. Then after they are boiled to bring the water content up, fat almost always has to be combined with these foods to make them palatable. Healthy fatty plant foods do not lead to weight gain. It is the combination of starch with fat that leads to weight gain and much more serious complications down the road.
Starch is a acid forming food. The acid present in starchy grain foods is carbonic acid. Over time the Liver will turn hard as a piece of wood. Stones will develop in gall bladder and kidneys. Other common complications include hypertension, diabetis, hemorrhoids, tumors, and cancer.
The only solution to beating the crack like addiction of cooked starch is with raw green leafy vegetables. Kale, collards, spinach, dandelion, water cress, arugula has to replace beans, rice, pasta, bread, and barley. Greens are akaline and are highly mineralized. When you treat kale like your rice then will you create another foundation of health, vitality, and true nourishment and fulfillment. Green juices and smoothies are great, but I believe it is of tantamount importance to chew your greens raw and without dressings and sweeteners. This will exercise and remineralize your teeth and help to change the chemistry of your blood and body from a toxic acid to a healing akaline structure.

After 20 years of practicing the vegetarian lifestyle with the last 10 being raw, I have come to the realization that if you are not doing at least 80% raw food diet then your diet is not healthy. The raw vegetarian foods include fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, sprouts, flowers, and herbs. For vegetarians/vegans that are not making the aforementioned foods listed there primary foods then the primary filler foods for vegetarians are likely soy and cooked starch which will undoubtedly lead to disease and premature death.
