American Craft Week
The second annual National American Craft Week is about to take off. This ten day promotion is to raise awareness of American artists, their work and the places that show and sell it. The crafts movement is making this effort in order to remain a noteworthy force within the American art community. We are very proud to be founding members of this movement. You are invited to drop by either of our locations to see how we have prepared Hanson Galleries for your pleasure.
"Kaleidoscope of Color"
The members of the Houston Metal Arts Guild have been busy creating unusual pieces for their annual show and sale. Facinating rings, enamel wall art, artistic jewelry and even hair adornments make up the show's offerings. Stop by to meet the artists during their reception this Friday night. Share some goodies and help celebrate American Craft Week. Show ends Nov 18th.
"Clay Transformed"
The ClayHouston group is quite active and submitted many very unique pieces for their annual juried show with us. It opens Friday, Oct 14th and continues through Nov 18th.
They will also have an artist reception, so come meet them and see both shows at once. Members of their group will be demonstrating clay turning at both locations on Saturday, Oct 15th from noon-4pm. Kids particularly are mesmerized by this action. That's the same day that Cindi Rose will be at the Memorial City location doing her silhouettes. Don't miss this supercharged event.
Free reusable bag with any purchase during American Craft Week.

Survivor tree designs salute the 10th anniversary of 9/11
by Michael Michaud
Michael Michaud has trumped his outstanding bronze jewelry designs with the Survivor Tree grouping commemorating the 9/11 tragedy.
The Callery Pear Tree was originally planted at the trade center complex in the 1970's. It was discovered in the rubble weeks after the 9/ll attacks with snapped roots and a blackened trunk. It was taken to the Arthur Ross Nursery in Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx and nursed back to health.
It was 8 feet tall at the time of the attacks and now stands 35 feet tall. The tree was replanted at the site on 12/22/2010. It is a symbol of resilience!
Our first order of these meaningful designs has sold well, but more will be arriving. Click here to see other styles and pictures of Michael cutting branches for his designs.
