A big thank you to our customers who helped make this happen!  Another big thank you to the artists who nominated us or have worked with us over our 33 year history.   And, of course, a special thanks to our staff who diligently persevered over many years to gain this recognition.
 
Niche Magazine is an industry publication for the independent retailer.  It targets those who sell mainly American artists' work.  They have been giving these awards for over 15 years and we have been honored many times with being one of the top 10 in the nation.  However, we have never before been number one.  "We are thrilled to be a part of this top echelon of craft stores in the USA," states Donna Milstein, founder and owner with her husband, Art, of Hanson Galleries.  In accepting the award Donna said, "This year's nomination holds the most honor since it has come after our most challenging year in business."

Ocarinas in Raku
New artist Kristin Hill
 
 
 
Ocarinas are small clay flutes that originated centuries ago in the South American jungle.  They have since been created around the world using many different materials.
 
In this variation of the ocarina, they are hand sculpted using a fine porcelain clay.  After an initial bisque firing, each is handpainted with its own unique design...truly a one-of a-kind mini work of art!  Because it is created by hand, each flute will have its own unique sound.  Even people with no musical experience can enjoy it because it is easy to play.

On August 28th, The Texas Women's Hospital held their annual luncheon featuring a fashion show and boutique row at the Intercontinental Hotel in Houston.  It was great seeing so many familiar faces and meeting new customers.
 
Plan ahead and mark your calendars now for the Nutcracker Market November 11-14.  We will have a booth there again this year.
