Constance Kay and Donna at the opening party of her new showroom in New York
|
 |
This interesting lady is the leading artcard representative in the US. At any given time she finds, mentors and represents over 80 individual card artists who might not have exposure for their work if not for her. Hanson Galleries has worked with her artists all 14 years that we have carried cards. We have even won her award for "Outstanding Artcard Retailer."

Enamel Spiritiles added to the gallery |
Houston Llew
Yes, that is his name!
Spiritiles are interactive art collectibles of enamel on copper and have become THE gift this fall. Timeless quotes march around the outer edges of the boxform tying in the spirit of the luminous imagery. The sturdy piece is approx. 5"x9"x2" and can wall hang or stand alone.
Quoting Houston, "I have always been drawn to art which enlightens your spirit every time you see it. My Spiritiles are created to capture the spirit of that enlightened moment ... love, adventure, fun, success ... that AHA! moment. My own philosophy of art is very simple ... In art, you can find your own spirit. This very simple act is an art itself."
Houston wants you to know that all his materials are made in America. His luminous pieces will withstand time and retain its beauty for generations to come. Look at our current selection of Spiritiles by clicking here and find out why they are a highly collectible interactive artforms. Then click on any tile to see what quote is being used.
The quote on Tickled Ivory:
"Life is like a piano. What you get depends on how you play it." Tom Lehrer
The quote on Liquid Sunshine shown above: "Wine is sunshine held together by water." Galileo

Crystalline Ikebanas from three artists |
A Gallery favorite
Ikebanas are perfect for minimalist flower arranging and have found new life in crystalline glazed ceramic. New artist to the gallery, Daryl Harwood, uses actual leaves he collects in his backyard to fashion his exciting forms. He uses sunflower, waterlily, and caladium leaves to name a few.
This pretty version is by Jaime Kozlowski.
Also, part of our ceramic ikebanas are the freeform styles being made by new gallery artist, Dwight Crossley.

It dawned on us that many of you had probably not been to our original store. It opened in 1977 on Westheimer, close to Fondren. We were there five years before we opened in Galleria Mall and Town & Country Mall. So here is an archival photo of it during a special celebration we had when the Houston Oilers won the title. My, have we grown and changed since then!
Welcome back from your summer vacations. We hope they were happy and restful. Here at Hanson Galleries we are hard at work executing our plans to offer you the best holiday season selections ever.
If you answered either of our two surveys, we thank you and want to assure you we listened and are taking your suggestions to heart.
And remember, we are back to our regularly scheduled hours being open seven days a week at both locations.
Hope to see you soon!
Art, Donna, Larry and all your HG friends
