Orient & Flume has been a leader in the art glass movement for over 35 years.  Last year's presentation was so well received that we are again offering the newest selections from their studio. 
 
Our show includes paperweights, vases, fruit and figures all with their signature touch.  Doug Boyd, their leader, makes sure that each piece from one of the studio's artists lives up to O & F's sterling reputation for fine glass blowing.

Visit us during next week's Nutcracker Market.  This annual holiday bazaar, held at Reliant Center, benefits the ballet guild and school.  You will find lots of new items for your holiday list.  New work includes gifts for men and teenagers and new styles in jewelry from Michael Michaud, Holly Yashi, Marco Polo and Mary Lowe.  Artists in attendance most hours.

For those who like purple, this one's for you!  Veteran kaleidoscope maker, Jon Greene, has put together this stunning creation using chrome tubes colored with auto paint and dichroic glass wheels.  It's breathtaking to look through. Also available in bright red just in time for Christmas.

Lovers of the Art Nouveau period are impressed with these stunning small accent plates.  Measuring 7" diameter, each is a unique design.  Bold dichroic glass colors dominate.  They can be displayed flat or on a plate stand.  Stunning when shown as a grouping.

Stuart has the distinction of being the first glassblower ever shown at Hanson Galleries...29 years ago.  His designs and skills have kept him a leader in the US studio glass movement.  He is best known for his figure work including swans, teddy bears and limited-edition clowns.  The blue or pink teddies are the ultimate grandparents' gift.

Retro is the best word to describe these interactive sand "paintings" new to the gallery this fall.  Bill uses seven exotic sands from deserts around the world and frames them in alder wood.  He was the inventor and original patent holder of the Sand Picture from 1985.  He has just started making them again.  They are available in two sizes in blue-green color as well as desert copper.  Great for men's and teenagers' gifts.

Opening night a huge success!
 
The Houston Area Metal Artists Guild Show had to be postponed because Ike made a visit.  So we combined it with the Clay Houston Show opening on Saturday, Oct 4th and had a 250 person turnout.  The wine and food was appreciated, but the opportunity to connect with people was the driving force after our town's catastrophe. 
 
Both guilds' artists commented on how much they appreciated the energy and respect that flowed through the store all evening.  So the experiment of opening both shows together was a huge success.
 
During the day there were clay demonstrations at both locations.  Eight excited artists received jurors' awards.  Party time was well spent reconnecting with friends and customers while viewing both creative shows.
