Middle School cadets enjoy first major snowfall of the winter
A Winter Wonderland!

Fork Union Military Academy enjoyed our first major snowfall of the winter as 7 to 10 inches of snow blanketed our campus Sunday night and Monday morning.

The snow tapered off through the day and cadet life at FUMA continued basically as normal.

Since most of our faculty members live here on or near campus, school life is less affected by weather here than it is at many schools. In fact, cadets are often a bit chagrined to learn that we rarely have "snow days" off from school on our campus!

There have been some power outages that have affected some portions of our campus. This loss of power has caused phone service and email service outages throughout the campus. Our primary cadet services (food services, etc.) are protected by emergency backup generators, so the daily life of our cadets has been as unaffected as possible.

As I write this, power has now been restored to the campus and phone and email services should be up and running normally by Tuesday.

If you have tried to contact the campus, you have likely received busy signals on all lines due to the power outages. Likewise, email service at fuma.org has been down today. This particular email is being sent from one of my email addresses located off-site using the forkunion.com domain.

If you have need to contact us before power and phone service is restored (hopefully by tonight or Tuesday), feel free to email me at this address: dan@forkunion.com. I will do my best to respond to your request.

New Barracks Please rest assured that your cadets continue to be safe and healthy, and life goes on as normal here despite some inconveniences due to weather.
