Small electrical fire prompts closing of Snead Hall for the evening
Situation under control with no injuries, staff report
Fork Union, VA - February 12, 2009 -
At approximately 5:22pm this afternoon, Thursday February
12, 2009, a small electrical fire was reported in the bathroom area of the second
floor of Band Company in the Snead Hall barracks facility on the campus of Fork
Union Military Academy.
Firefighters from the Fork Union and Palmyra departments
responded promptly and are on the scene. The fire was contained to the electrical
chases and the situation is reported to be under control and contained to the
bathroom areas of the building.
There were no injuries to any cadets or staff in this
incident.
Some students living in Band Company of Snead Hall may be housed in Memorial
Hall, the Middle School Barracks, and the Fork Union Motor Lodge for tonight as
the situation continues to be assessed.
