Legal/Ethical Discussion - Share Your Thoughts
The May/June issue of ASCA School Counselor presented a scenario involving a school counselor being fired after a student inadvertently saw some inappropriate pictures on the school counselor's cell phone. What are your thoughts on this topic? Have you ever experienced something similar? Do you feel your freedom is more limited than adults who aren't educators? Share your comments on the ASCA SCENE discussion about this article.

How Do YOU Celebrate?
National School Counseling Week, Feb. 7-11, 2011, may seem a long way away, but while we're in the conference-related "Celebrate School Counseling" mood, we couldn't help thinking about next year's National School Counseling Week. After all, what better time to plan your celebration than this summer when you have a little extra time. New this year, ASCA has revamped the National School Counseling Week kit. All printed and electronic materials previously sold in the kit are now available online, year-round, at no charge. And, for those who want the stickers, door hangers, bookmarks, pencils, etc., we still have those available for purchase, also available year-round. We believe this will help members customize their experience, paying for only what they want and getting the rest for free. Learn more.
And, while we're talking about National School Counseling Week, please take a few minutes to answer a short online survey about your celebrations. Selected responses will be run in the July/August ASCA School Counselor magazine. Take the survey.
