Conference Keynote Speakers: "Maria" from Sesame Street & Rosalind Wiseman
If you had a chance to visit Google in the past few weeks, you're probably well aware that Sesame Street is celebrating its 40th anniversary. In those 40 years, Sesame Street has been instrumental in helping children navigate through various emotional issues. And one person who's been constant through all that is the beloved character of Maria. Sonia Manzano, who's played Maria since the 1970s, opens ASCA's 2010 conference in Boston, July 3-6, and shares her experiences working on one of the best-loved -- and longest-lasting -- children's shows around. The conference ends with a keynote address from Rosalind Wiseman, author of "Queen Bees and Wannabees." In her keynote, you'll learn concrete strategies for responding effectively to perpetrators, targets and bystanders of kids' social conflicts. Wiseman empowers educators to create a climate of safety, respect and dignity in their schools. Get more details about the keynote speakers, the schedule at a glance and the pre-conference workshops. Online registration opens Jan. 2, 2010.

ASCA School Counselor Online
The November/December issue of ASCA School Counselor magazine focuses on how school counselors can use technology in their jobs. And, because we like to practice what we preach, we've developed a special digital section of this issue of the magazine. This special digital section, available exclusively to members, contains the cover story, "High Tech=High-Touch," streaming video, a Twitter tutorial, numerous hellpful links and more. Check it out today, and watch for the print issue to arrive in your mailboxes later this month with more exciting content about how school counselors are staying "cyberwise." We may not rival Esquire with it's "augmented reality" issue this month, but we're trying!
