Salentein, Uco Valley (Mendoza, Argentina) Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2004 ($20, Palm Bay)
Showing remarkable complexity and class for the money, this wine joins excellent fruit with a substantial dose of interestingly spicy, smoky oak.
Ripe and deeply flavored but not at all pruny or obvious, the fruit recalls blackberries and cassis, with nice freshness and purity that makes for a fine partnership with the wood notes. 90 - Michael Franz

Ever had a cause you feel passionate about? If so, then you'll understand why we're planning to promote our newest event like crazy!
On Friday, September 5, 2008, we're joining Fox 5 Anchor/Reporter Holly Morris to help Team Jean "Uncork the Cure" for Breast Cancer by raising funds and awareness in the fight against breast cancer.
Specifically, we're supporting "Team Jean" who is participating in the Breast Cancer 3-Day Event, an amazing journey where thousands of women and men walk 60 miles over the course of three days to raise money for breast cancer research and community outreach.
We promise the event will be fun (not only is it spearheaded by Holly Morris... we're also holding a silent auction) and will include plenty of good wine (provided by us) and food. Visit our web site and find out more about this event. |

Wine and Aroma
When sampling wines, taste is not necessarily the most important sense. The sense of smell can be even more important to experiencing wine.
Taste buds can only recognize four tastes: sweet, sour, bitter and salty. So it is through the sense of smell that we recognize wines as having traces of chocolate, liquorice, blackberry, grapefruit, or any other of hundreds of "tastes." Many people who can't discern the aromas of wine simply have a poor sense of smell.
So next time you can't discern the pear, black pepper, green apple, or grassy notes in a glass of wine, don't blame your tastebuds. Blame your nose. |
Weekly WWA Events:
Every FRIDAY at the Arlington Cinema 'N Drafthouse - 6:15 p.m.
Every Saturday and Sunday in partnership with Reston Limousine!
