Greetings as we finish up the Rockmore Summer of Adventure of 2012. We hope all our Louisiana friends are Okay after Hurricane Isaac and we can't wait to see you in person as we begin our own fall move "Back to Louisiana" at the end of this month. None of our summer plans went as we thought they might and everything worked out for the BEST anyway, isn't that the way it always goes. Shirley Marvin's dental work was expensive and extensive and is now complete and she looks great and is eating foods she thought she had given up forever. Thanks to all who made it possible by purchasing those Rockmore's along the way! Special thanks to Malek Eswari at Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry on Cape Cod who extended dental credit because he believed in us, Shirley and the Rockmore Project - He is the BEST!

At LASM with Elizabeth Weinstein in front of The Old State Capitol! |
We made one summer trip without Shirley and we were able to meet with Elizabeth Weinstein, Curator of the LASM - Louisiana Arts & Science Museum! Her mother is Shirley's close friend and a resident at the St. James Retirement Center with Shirley. We met with Elizabeth and she let us know that her thought was to make this LASM Late Summer 2013 Rockmore Exhibition a celebration of Rockmore and the patron that kept him going, Shirley Marvin. She wants to have QUALITY Rockmores, special events, a nice catalog and a celebration of Shirley Marvin in her hometown in her 91st year. We love her! Thanks Elizabeth!
We also had the pleasure of filming an interview with Rockmore Putney High School friend and co-conspirator, Tim Wise (see painting above). Chris Davis (Noel Rockmore's son) hosted the filming in NYC this summer and Tee Marvin will be editing it soon along with a few other Putney Rockmore friend's interviews including David Lattimore, David Amaram & his sister Mariana. We had a GREAT time and we learned all sorts of things about Rockmore including his SECRET athletic prowess as well as his UNIQUE sense of humor. The most touching moment is when Tim stopped the filming and explained to us that he saw so much of his friend Rockmore in Chris that it was making him emotional. How cool is that!

The MOST thrilling Adventure of the Summer had to be our visit to the Tyson Foods World Headquarters in Springdale, Arkansas. In the early spring we got a call from Tyson Curator, Shannon Mitchell, wondering if we knew about the BEAUTIFUL Rockmore (see Header Image above) in their lobby/Museum. This began a dialog that led to a connection with their EVP, Archie Schaffer lll, who knew of Rockmore through his Bukowski collectible, "A Crucifix in a Deathand" published by our own Gypsy Lou Webb. Archie's assistant, Heather Chilson, helped coordinate a visit that was just a fantastic experience.

Thanks to the Tyson A-Team |
Before our arrival, Archie, Shannon & Heather had each acquired their own Rockmore's through our eBay auctions. Talk about your support from The A-Team!
We learned that Don Tyson, the founder, instilled in his Co-workers, the concept that management would wear the same coverall uniforms that the workers did - all part of the Tyson Team. We had a great tour of the artwork throughout the facility including Warhols and other famous works. If that was not enough, as we were departing, Archie took a look at the Rockmore's we were transporting in our car and purchased two for himself to help us with Shirley and because he liked them. Tyson Foods - we love them!

Rich & Tee Wedding -
3/16/86 Exuma, Bahamas |
On a personal note, We took time to celebrate the 9/11 heroes by posting a photo essay in Memory of Mark Schurmeier, Rich's college roommate and our BEST man, lost in Tower 1 on the 107th floor while attending a one day conference for Freddie Mac. So many people lost and so many lives changed forever and we keep focused on all the good that comes when we work and celebrate together. We miss you Sherm (the tall guy with the Beard in the center).
This coming Sunday September 16th at 9PM ET on eBay, the 14 works below from the Shirley Marvin Collection will be auctioned. We have added a few extra works and increased the QUALITY with two oils and several works that were part of the LaGrange Art Museum Show. We are not sure we can get another round up before we make the move this month so for all that emailed us "Where are the Rockmores on eBay?" - this is your BIG chance!
We will continue working on our Non Profit GEFQ (Golden Era of the French Quarter Foundation) and The Noel Rockmore Film Project as well as completing the first draft of a Noel Rockmore Book. This just in: The Huntington Museum & Library in California would like to meet with us before the end of the year to talk about Noel Rockmore. You never know what will happen next but you can be sure Shirley Marvin will have the most dazzling smile around when it does.
We will keep you posted as the Rockmore Adventure continues.
