Greetings!
The BIG Rockmore News for May is that Rockmore seems to be showing up everywhere, at Museums, Galleries and Auctions across the country. Add in the upcoming documentary, the 2013 Major end of summer show at the LASM in Baton Rouge and the upcoming publications & articles and it's official, "Rockmore is Heating up!"

We (Tee & Rich) attended the opening of the Cahoon Museum this past week where Rockmore was chosen for the show, "Portraying African Americans with Respect." How fitting that the image of Rockmore friend and coworker Bruce Brice at right was part of this show. We know that everyone that attended Jazzfest in New Orleans had a wonderful time and many of us followed the live streams and the ongoing Jazzfest posts of our friends on Facebook.

1968 Wailing Wall lll at Ft. Smith |
A research student, Misty Masterson Dobson, at University of Ft. Smith Arkansas contacted us about helping her with her research paper called a "Wailing Wall lll". Victor Potamkin donated this Rockmore portrait at left of the "Wailing Wall lll" to her school and it caught her attention. We loved her paper and posted it above with some difficulty unfortunately omitting the images and the footnotes. Her summary below is a fitting way to wish Shirley Marvin a Happy Mother's day. "Since the discovery of his cache of art in 2006 the Marvins have made video documentaries, contacted various, previously unknown collectors, organized an exhibit featuring his work (LaGrange Art Museum in LaGrange GA, 2011) and created a network which facilitates the promotion of Rockmore's work. Countless pieces have been auctioned to aficionados and newly discovered admirers. Rockmore lovers everywhere have banded together to bring the man and his masterpieces back to life. He was an artistic genius and thanks to the careful preservation of one woman in particular, Shirley Marvin, people everywhere can enjoy him endlessly."

This coming Thursday, May 10th at 9PM ET on eBay, the 10 works below from the Shirley Marvin Collection will be auctioned off and they include two nice Pres Hall related works. Shirley Marvin will be making her way up to Cape Cod at the end of this month to attend Grandson Sam Marvin's graduation from Boston College. Sam is off to Graduate School at Univ. of Chicago next fall and we are all quite proud!
