Greetings!

"The World According to New Orleans" at Marfa Texas Ballroom opened up today with a BIG Splash in West Texas. It was packed with interesting folks from all over the place and a whole bunch of folks from New Orleans. The crowd was diverse and appreciative and with the current artist from New Orleans in attendance and the folks representing the New Orleans artist no longer alive. We were handing out Rockmore packets with a Garden & Gun, Lagrange Daily News, and the Marfa Brochure (very popular Magicians Silhouette) and equally popular Shirley Marvin Portrait Lagrange "Save the date flyer." Of course, Shirley Marvin was the belle of the show and worked the very high profile art folks with hopes of gaining insight into getting Rockmore into the recognized Artworld.

After the 2 1/2 hour (packed every minute) opening the crowd then moved over to an indoor/outdoor event center with a community dinner buffet for FREE to all who came prepared by a New Orleans chef just opening a restaurant in Marfa. Jumbo shrimp, and a host of great southern delicacies with beignets for dessert. Then out comes little Freddie King, New Orleans master Blues artist and his full band for a rocking performance with free open bar and drinks. A stunning New Orleans cultural & artistic oasis in the desert provided by Curator Dan Cameron, Marfa Director Fairfax Dorn and Marfa Curator Mike Bianco and all of the really talented, hard working Marfa Ballroom Museum staff.
