7-13-10 Noel Rockmore Project - Gypsy Lou homeless:<( |
Greetings!
The Sad News is that Gypsy Lou Webb friend and confidant of Noel Rockmore has been in a homeless shelter in Slidell Louisiana for the last two weeks. She lived with her sister who recently passed away and the plans she made to find a new living place fell through. We have been in contact with Gypsy Lou at the shelter and are working hard on getting her to complete the paperwork and forms that could give her the opportunity to have a small apartment of her own that will also take her dog, Jolie. We asked her what she might need and what kind of help she would like from her friends. Lou said what really makes her happy is letters and postcards so she knows that she is not alone.
Her address is as follows: Gypsy Lou Webb - PO Box 583 - Slidell, LA, 70458
So send her a card today! That's an easy one! If you want to just send us an email note and have us mail it in a card, we can do that too! It seems amazing that one can make it to 94 years old with a legacy of helping others and this is what awaits you. We can certainly make this life better for Lou and thereby for all of us. We will keep you posted. If we have learned anything on The Rockmore Trail, rallying in a time of crisis is what the old French Quarter Community is all about.
There are many other Rockmore's coming up this weekend at Neal Auction and New Orleans Auction. This is a good thing for Rockmore because the more works of an artist that have been sold at auction - the better. You can see that there is quite a selection to choose from in the works below. Click Here for a Detailed report on the Rockmore Works! Shhhhhh! Sneak Preview of the web page updates at www.rockmore.org a whole NEW look and over 100 pages of new content, articles, biographies and letters. If you want to see 125 Rockmore Paintings including Preservation Hall, Self Portraits and many Great Works that have not been seen, please check out and join the Noel Rockmore Facebook Fan Page!
So far it has been a summer of trails and tribulations with Shirley Marvin having a weeks hospitalization for severe bronchitis and then an irregular heartbeat (she is all better now), Sherm our family dog has lymph cancer with a 2-4 month prognosis with treatment, there is a depressing oil spill in our homeland and the economic climate seems oppressive. Who knew that persevering would be so difficult. We still believe that helping others and keeping your heart in the right place will move you forward. It also is good to be moving in that direction for when the big break comes.
Here's praying it comes soon for all of us, especially Gypsy Lou Webb.
